Imagine how good our defense would look if we got to play against the Big 10 West.
Yeah for sure every conference or division has its easier teams. But the B10W kind of goes above and beyond based on their play style. And KF has had the cheat code for beating those teams for a long time. When you have a bunch of teams that aren’t really comfortable throwing the ball, it plays right into his hands. Be conservative on offense, wait for the mistake, kick a FG to win. Not saying it’s easy, but he figured it out while the others kept spinning their wheels. Then he piled up the close wins and cashed a bunch of checks.
The teams that give EIU fits are those that can throw the ball, doesn't matter long or short, just throwing the ball, and moving it down the field. Teams that they eat alive are those that are run based teams first. If you are not at least decent throwing the ball against their defense, you are in trouble.
I think Beth Goetz is a really solid AD... and she's probably gutsy too... but I doubt if she had much choice in this decision. When huge donors are telling you that you need to let Brian go... you let Brian go.
BF got into the public till to the tune of around $5 million or so over the last 10 years. So he is a millionaire many times over. KF got into the public till for around $80 million. Largest family business in Iowa City.

The total for the northwestern game initially went up a half point and now has come back down. Appears to be tied with the lowest game ever at 30.5….last week’s.
I might pounce on that over. The cats D is good but not great. And they can toss it around too. You have to be thinking if there were ANY way for BF and KF to score some cheap points, this would be the week to empty the play book. I mean play page.

It's also an indication the "Interim" tag is off, even if it hasn't been publicly announced. No way someone gets the authorization to do that if they aren't guaranteed to win the game of Survivor.
