Utah football is RAM tough

Texas is working on a deal to give each of their players an actual Texas Longhorn.

What’s the over/ under on amount of those trucks getting totaled? Many of those players never drove something that big.

Cool but the headlines are a little deceiving - it's basically a free rental for their time at Utah.

That's still a hell of a value depending on how you look at the lease term. If you look at it in terms of a 4 year lease (covering 4 years in school) on a $60k vehicle you'd be what, like $750\month? Plus the cost of insurance, which for a bunch of men in their late teen early 20s isn't a small number, generally.

But then this bit:

"The total value of the NIL deal with the Dodge Rams is a bit misleading. While the fleet’s total price is steep — more than $6 million — Ken Garff Automotive can sell the trucks to the general public after one year as part of a leasing agreement through United Fleet Management, Matt Garff said."

Might make it substantially more valuable, if theyre allowing players to be on 1-year leases and constantly giving them new trucks, as that first year is the most expensive part of the lease with all the immediate depreciation.

Very smart u want to leave, we’re taking your ride away from you

I’ve always wondered why you don’t have local businesses signing multi year appearance contracts to keep guys in town. Have an NIL where you show up for a weekly radio interview or something where the contact requires them to be there. Front load the contract with the stipulation that it must be paid back if is broken. No requirements to be on the team or play, just have to show up every week.

Ken Garff group owns a few dealerships in the DSM area, Dewey's, Stew's, Southtown. So essentially central Iowans are helping to pay for it. Maybe Blum should try to get some sponsorship out of them so they don't get too much negative press around here.
