***Official 2023 Chicago Cubs Thread***

Well the fighting Bedards have a preseason game tomorrow. Last one out shut the lights out on the cubs season.

Didn't we basically cut Chavez? Kind of ironic we can't get an out and he's the winning pitcher tonight with an ERA of like 1.60.
He's 40 years old and spent most of the year on the IL.

The pen would've been fine if it could've stayed healthy. The good news is that there's tons and tons of big arms in the pipeline.

Like who? I have no confidence in our current relief pitchers.

Hope Stroman puts one in Acuna’s earhole in his first at bat tomorrow. Great achievement for him but stopping the game for that in the middle of a playoff race is a trash ass move
Wow. This is just a garbage take. Hoping a star player gets injured for accomplishing something nobody ever has before is pathetic. Maybe take a break from sports.

Miami winning tonight basically ends it, yeah? This team is a walking choke job, they aren't gonna win out, which is what they'd have to do at a minimum.

How do you shape next years pen? Leiter and Merryweather have to be your bottom 2, Smyly and Alzolay…do you go get 3-4 more arms and tell everyone else to enjoy Des Moines?

First of all don’t want him injured, but teams have plunked others for far less. I don’t actually mean in his ear hole but hitting him in the ass would be more than fair. Not upset that he accomplished something no one has done before, but disrupting the game for two minutes in extras in a playoff race is a garbage time to do it, and I am surely not alone in that take. JD was saying it on the broadcast, a bunch of people are saying the same thing on Twitter, hell, a buddy that HATES the Cubs texted me last night that it was ridiculous of Acuna to do that in that moment. Celebrate it before tomorrow’s game or at his first bat, whatever that’s fine. But that moment was not the time to do it.

Maybe don't give up a stolen base in that situation then? The celebration was going to happen the second he reached the accomplishment. The Cubs picked a really bad time to let it happen.

Also, most the takes I see on Twitter are poking fun at Boog and JD for whining. Glad Ross came to the defense of the moment.

Were you upset about Sammy's celebration mid-game? Every major record-breaking event is acknowledged in game like this, especially when the player is on the home team. This is just sour grapes. You deserve to be ear holed a lot more than Acuña does.

It looks like it's between us and the Marlins unless the Astros can provide some major help this weekend.

Just all around ineptness the last 2 nights. It's such a waste because the starting pitching has been so good this series and we can't find 1 relief pitcher that can even get through an inning.

It should also be noted that PCA may be a superstar in the making but he also needs to quit trying to be a hero and just hold the runner at first.
