Matt Campbell's Most Important Game...

Norton actually breaks tackles well, he just can’t break 3 defenders behind the LOS. I do think you’re right though. I think Sama and Hansen both need more time. I also agree that Iowa and Ohio are solid defenses. Doesn’t negate the poor line play though. They’ve gotten their asses kicked so far.
They moved Iowa more than they moved Ohio. I'm willing to accept the virus probably did affect them pretty heavily but that doesn't excuse the systemic offensive issues that have been going on the past few years.

The big question you must ask yourself is, how is this going to relate to recruiting? Unless we get a couple million in NIL cash to hand out, it’s going to be hard to get some kids to come here.
Good news is our offensive NFL talents are mostly very recent so (for now) the staff can point to Montgomery/Hall for RB recruits, Purdy for QB, and Lazard/Hutchinson/Butler for WR recruits.

His Name is being thrown in for the Michigan state Job, if it is true he should take it.

Retain John and bring an offensive mind Coach. Which we have not head in this century.
I unfortunately don’t see any chance Heacock stays if CMC is gone. I think the only way is if we gave him the HC job. Now this information is a few years old but I heard in the past there were some schools that tried to lure him away but he supposedly told them Iowa State was his last stop as long as Campbell is here. However, I can’t substantiate that rumor.

You're not wrong, people seem to forget that Heacock said this is his last stop before retirement. Only came here because of Matt.

And there are coaches who are content to be coordinators. They know what they do best and/or don't want to deal with the headaches being head coaches.

I agree with the general premise. Lose this game and 1-11 looks like a real possibility. That won't get him fired this year, but it will kill recruiting and fan engagement. Then you have set the table for what is most likely a lame duck 2024 season. Hard to see us bouncing back from 4-8 and 1-11 to do much in 2024. At that point you make the coaching change and hope the hole hasn't been dug too deep so maybe the new guy can build it back in 2 or 3 years.
We lost by 7 to Iowa and 3 to Ohio. I realize losing close games is getting real old. But to jump to the conclusion that if we don't beat OSU, we will go 1-11 is being pretty negative.

Sure we could lose every game. But there are good chances for wins on the schedule as well.

Hopeful that the staff is more open to change after the slow start. A lot to improve on offense. But I also think our defense has to create momentum plays- sacks and turnovers. We have dabbled with a 4 man front, I would like to see it more to put pressure on the QB and keep them in the pocket.

CMC has to have some sort of scandal before his resume is of the quality required by MSU

So much f*cking dumb in this thread... This isn't like basketball. You can't just fire a successful head coach after a few bad years and be relevant again. Matt Campbell is to our football program what Jamie Pollard is to our athletic department. Ya'll need to take a step back and see this season for what it's become: a chance to get some really young players critical playing experience. Look forward to next year, but enjoy watching these young men grow and blossom. They are oozing with talent and potential.

Heacock isn’t staying if Campbell goes. I know he wants to stay here, but I can’t see him sticking around without Campbell

On the season 14 passes and 19 runs. So we have passed 42% of the time on first down. So I wouldn't say that's all that predictable and seems to be trending towards more passing. We shall see how it's done this week. "3 things can happen when you pass, and 2 are bad." :)

So what are you saying. Stick with the....3 yards and a cloud of prescription turf offense?
