*** Official Iowa vs IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

Hard to sit and watch Rocco stare down his receiver the whole route and not have any progressions. He keys one one guy and will throw it regardless of coverage most of the time.

Also annoying that scoring drive there was no urgency at all jut go ahead and take 5 minutes for the drive. Ugh

I think the frustration for me is we are 2-3 dumb plays a way that lose the game and it’s happenning 7 or more games a year.

Missed field goals
Pick 6
Dropped passes
Defense giving up one huge play.

Holding them to 13 points is really good. Especially with 7 of that coming from a questionable penalty
CMC teams have been really good at forcing their type of game on the opposition. Problem is they just haven’t been very good at winning that type of game.

Yeah that approach is weird and to add, bootleg Rocco for the first down on the last play and ISU has all sorts of options to get down field.

running your 8 minute offense down 2 scores with 10 minutes left is a choice.
I would rather have lost 34 to 13 because we showed a sense of urgency and lost.

The only time to run the 5 minute offense is winning or late in a game when you are sure you have an advantage in the trenches.

We did not have either.

Positives? We lost 5 critical starters off this team, including the QB, played like crap, and are easily one of the youngest teams in the country... and it came down to the last play.

Negatives? Will it get any better though with this inept coaching staff (outside of Heacock that is).

The only thing that is giving me hope on the season is Iowa has absolutely dominated us in the Campbell era yet we have gone on to have good to great seasons in those losses despite the initial bleak outlook following CyHawk. The D had another solid game, we just need 1-2 play makers to step up on offense and we can still have a decent season.
Agreed. While it’s fun to win this game, it’s treated the same as any other non conference game. If I had to choose between the following options, I would take a 6-3 conference record with a loss to Iowa than a 3-6 conference record with a win over Iowa

I think this team will get better as the season progresses just because there is so much youth on the offensive side.

The implication that the fix was in with the refs.

As someone pointed out there was a penalty that ISU declined.

You'd be best off not being on here tonight buddy.

Besides... your team looked like s**t too btw. So I wouldn't go shooting off your mouth in support of your racist head coach.

Lost 5 starters in April that likely wouldn't have mattered today.

Are we revising our win projections again?
I'm kind of glad I got called away to stand in the heat and sweat my balls off trying to get my kids car working.
Although that didn't go much better than this game, damn it.
