Canario with a pinch hit K for his first MLB. Glad we waited nearly a week to get his hot bat into action

It's refreshing to see some homegrown pitching come up through the minors lately. That 2016 team basically had to buy pitching to build that roster. Every pitcher on the WS roster was either brought in from other organizations from separate deadline sell offs, acquired in a trade, or free agent signing and not 1 was drafted or signed into the organization as an amatuer. Got a few more arms getting closer too that they drafted too that could have a big impact.
I just don't get any argument against the computer calling balls and strikes. Its time.
According to St Louis and Milwaukee media neither of their teams ever just get beat.
He was batting .273 against various levels of minor league pitching on the year. So it is Ross's fault when a guy who is unsuccessful almost 3 out of every 4 times is unsuccessful the one and only time so far he is batting at the highest level?Canario with a pinch hit K for his first MLB. I think his point was that bringing up Canario up when he was scalding hot, just to have him sit on the bench and lose his hot streak was a dumb decision
This! Was no point in bringing him up then not use him and by doing so you just put the kid in a tough spot where he's had no regular at bats when he finally got to see his first MLB action. He should have played in 1 of the double header games to get that out of the way.
Who cares, we are in the middle of a pennant race, we can worry about playing time later.
I care about the pennant race but I also care about not messing up one of the top prospects in the system too. He missed nearly a year with injuries and needs the regular AB for development. He has a chance to be a part of the big league team next season so calling up a guy who was tearing it up in Iowa at the time just to sit him is poor management of Canario no matter how you spin it. There are other guys at Iowa that could fill that role as bench depth. I'm now strongly against bringing PCA up as long as Iowa is still playing this month if they'd use him the same way. Still have to keep building for 2024 and beyond so if these guys aren't going to play meaningful roles with the big club right now there is no point in having them sit the bench in Chicago and essentially "pause" their development.
Every move Ross makes will be criticized on this board. Even the right ones.
Example, bringing in Wesneski in for Hendricks yesterday. Wesneski was dominant his prior outing. He was on good rest. What's better to follow Hendricks then a guy who had his FB touch 99 last time out. Well first guy up parks one in the bleachers so obviously its a bad move and Rossy is a joke. Do I agree with every move he makes. Of course not and some of them piss me off. But this board is to the point where they need everything to support their narrative.
It was blatant mismanagement (or miscommunication, maybe?) by either the FO or Ross to handle the Canario situation the way it was handled.
Canario was beyond just a shiny new toy, he was arguably the hottest hitter in the minors after coming back just weeks prior from a serious injury.
There is zero justification for why he is on the roster. Either let him continue to rake in the minors or let him hit here. Stop force feeding Morel/Wisdom/Tauchman and try something else

I like Rossy more than most on this board but the only main issues I’ve had with him lately were:
-Continuing to bat Happ in the third spot when he was downright brutal for an extended time, that’s arguably the most important spot in the order and he hit .198 in June, .218 in July, and was having a pretty rough August until the last week-ish. He’s hitting worth his weight now but there were a lot more opportunities for Belli to produce in the 3 spot.
-Patrick Wisdom has zero business getting basically any playing time for a team in a pennant race
-The handling of Canario is puzzling to say the least. Dude was raking at Iowa and should’ve gotten some more playing time by now. Instead he almost went a week without seeing real pitching
I don’t really disagree with many of Ross’s pitching decisions. Especially when our bullpen was depleted with all the close games we had for a long stretch there
Wisdom sucks, the occasional HR isn't worth all the other baggage he brings. No reason for him on the roster anymore with Morel, Candy and Madrigal all on board. DFA city if they need a 40-man spot.
Conversely, I am really digging the young starting pitching the Cubs are getting of late. Steele of course, but now Assad and Wicks looking badass, a half-dozen interesting arms in the minors especially Brown and Horton. Too soon to completely dismiss Wesnecki's upside as well. Nice--and quite the change of pace from seasons past.

I look forward to watching wisdom hit 85 home runs in the kbo or Japanese league or w.e. when we cut him loose.
I guess I disagree in that you make it sound like it’s nitpicking his decision making
Do you believe Ross has good bullpen management?
Do you believe there is any justification for having 3 pinch hitters for your DH? Particularly in 3 straight at bats?
Wisdom has proven multiple times he shouldn’t be at first. He’s pulled first chance we get.
We don’t manage games like we’re in a playoff race. The benefit of the doubt he gets is that he’s never been in this boat before as a manager.
Re: Ross and pitching decisions, I had no real issues until he threw Wesneski against the Mets who had 5 of 6 lefties due up and lefties were hitting .290 off him. There was zero justification for that move.
Then it sounds like he truly felt Smyly should still be a starting pitcher despite proving time and time again he’s an automatic L.
Then he threw Leiter Saturday which I didn’t care until he said Leiter was gassed before the outting. So why did you throw him?
And I struggle with the whole Greene thing. Was the mindset since 9/1 that we were going to DFA him no matter what? You have a gassed bullpen and you had a chance to bring a guy up and threw him 1 total inning. Just seemed weird
