How many agree with CMC?

In previous years, saying we had bad special teams play is a "Farce."

I don't.

Other than that, it was a good coaching effort given all the distractions and uncertainty surrounding the team this off season.

I love Matt, I really do. Other than pollard he’s the best hire Iowa state has made in years. But His diatribe about how everything is soooooo hard here, and how young we are, and how the special teams don’t suck. It gets old, it’s a lot of ******** about a job he makes 5m at. His skin is thinner than it should be for this many years here. He’s treated like a god here and is almost untouchable…he needs to get over it.

I hear you. Though I think it’s part of the chip on the shoulder persona the staff has. I see it now as motivation and building a narrative to be the underdog. Not saying I like it. I don’t get a lot of substance out of CMC when he talks anymore. He’s a master of coach speak. Not a bad thing, I just think it’s a curated message. I care most about what him and Pollard are talking about behind closed doors. Hopefully he’s self aware and open to honest feedback.

Can't say I've ever gotten anything of substance from listening to CMC. I spend more time listening to other coaches just to keep up with what is going on. They are a lot more informative and don't talk down to their fans.

I love Campbell as well, but I stopped listening to his interviews and speeches a few years ago.

Anyone have the video of Rocco's pop? Couldn't hear it during the game
He was basically saying that for Rocco's first start, the goals were to win the game and not turn the ball over. I can't wait to see how Rocco plays against Iowa. Hoping to open up the playbook a lot more and actually throw the ball downfield. Hoping to see less of the 1 yard screen passes to Noel.

He tried getting Noel a couple times downfield and had one long TD.

It's there. Running the ball will be imperative.

I was waiting for the ol ‘we’re going to open up the playbook’ piece…

I think CMC is the best coach we’ve had in my 40 years of watching Cyclone football and I love the guy- but, we saw the playbook yesterday and we’ve seen it for the last several years. There isn’t the ‘really good stuff’ just sitting around, waiting to be used in week 2 . We’ve seen the playbook, EIU has seen our playbook- what we saw Saturday is pretty much what we got. We’ll usually do predictable running plays on 1st and 2nd downs, and then try a screen to Noel or a short pass to a TE over the middle on 3rd. We don’t have a ton of imagination on offense- our D keeps us in most games and if our offense is efficient like it was yesterday, we have a shot at beating anybody.

Agsin, I love CMC, but we all know that the EIU game will be won with our defense and lost by our offense. It’s how our teams are built. Even when we had NFL players loaded on our offense, we weren’t racking up 40 points every Saturday. There is nothing that we’re saving in the playbook for a special moment- we are who we are and I hope it’s enough this Saturday.

I agree for the most part, but there will be some plays against Iowa that we did not see in the UNI game.
