Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

I kind of hope that Arizona waits to announce until after Oregon and Washington announce. Only so then Yormark can say we did our best to save who we could, but the Big10 dealt the blow a second time.

I have been wondering if Arizona played Oregon and Washington today, or possibly colluded with them. At 9:00 AM, the news was that all 9 were going into a meeting where the PAC GOR would be presented and possibly signed. Arizona's prez was all in and pro pac-9. So much so that someone said he should win an oscar if he was putting on a show.

In the middle of the meeting, the Washington president taps the brakes and says "We out". With all the buzz this morning about the pac surviving, suddenly the B1G improves its offer to those two schools, and now it makes financial sense for them to bolt.

All this happens when Arizona was already approved to the big 12 last night. To most, it looks like the B1G killed the pac by taking its 4 biggest brands. Arizona gets what it really wants, and with Ore and wash gone, ASU has less power to continue being a road block.

No idea if this is how it went down, but the Arizona oscar talk has me wondering.

The speed of this discounts the just circulated WSU/Ore St partial share rumor or ASU/Utah as partial share.

I think we're at 16 with four corners only as originally rumored.

AZ and CU wanted to be B12 all along but ASU and Utah had to be dragged like injured morons claiming they want to walk to the hospital instead of taking an ambulance.

Just explained all of this best I could to Little JM while running errands and are currently cranking this glorious tune with the windows down.

Always makes me think of Homer’s version:

“I take a whiskey drink
I take another drink
And when I have to pee
I use the kitchen sink”

Wouldn't be shocking if they were all working together to get what they want. WA and OR wanted in the B12, AZ wanted ASU and Utah to get on board with moving to the B12 (or at least get ASU out of their way).

Arizona is a lock. It sounds like the biggest thing holding up Arizona State is President Crow. He’s a bit out of touch with the situation. He cares more about education than athletics (which if we’re being honest, big picture is the thing everyone should care more about, but this is a sink or swim situation). All of the people surrounding Crow are trying to get this through to him. It’ll be interesting what Yormark does because the actions of this president and his behavior don’t fit the culture of the big 12 is trying to build athletically. I could see Crow getting shown the door if this is botched.

The majority of the people in all of these institutions (Utah included) wanting to join the big 12 are good people and fans and they are realistic. I find it funny that people are shouting out, they don’t want this team or that team because they’re taking a small sample of losers that spend time on Twitter or the actions of one powerful person and using that to judge an entire population, it just doesn’t come off as smart to me but that’s just me. It just seems like there’s a lot of hypocrisy in it and some people just don’t think it through and regurgitate whatever they read.

I’m excited to welcome Utah, Arizona, and Arizona State if they Join. It sucks overall for college athletics but it’s the best the big 12 can make of a chaotic landscape that is torpedoing towards ruin.

For Stanford I get it.

For Party U Arizona State the athletics probably help market the school and having them in a major conference is a no brainer.

How long does the ABOR let Crow dither on making this official? "Staying in the PAC" isn't really an option if there is no PAC.

The Four Corners to the Big 12 was always the right move no matter how dumb UTAH "OMG ROSE BOWL!!!" fans and Arizona State "WE ARE NOW AN IVY LEAGUE" fans are.

If the big 12 went to 18, UConn would be involved. Maybe by is trying to squeeze in another with them to get to 18?

UConn basketball added to B12 would have to be more valuable than WSU and Ore St from what I've seen of attendance and TV ratings.

At some point if UConn doesn't become a hot property for the Big 12 or wounded ACC you have to ask yourself if Iowa State and Kansas State are better brands than Kansas and Duke. (not saying I believe that, but KU and UConn have some parallels as institutions and ADs)

As angry as Kim/Jack have made me with various moves to weaken ISU as a school, no Los Angeles job opportunity has ever asked me...

"Iowa State? Isn't that the online university?"

Listen, I'm tickled to death we are still afloat. But this is becoming kind of dumb. I'm sorry, but so many of these new teams don't do anything for me.

Again, SO glad we have a seat when the musical chairs ends. But there are just too many teams.
