Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

So if the B1G takes 2-4 Pac schools, and the B12 takes 2-4 Pac schools, what happens to the Rose Bowl.
Does it move affiliation to the B12 and B1G?
Does it become an at large NY6 bowl like the Fiesta etc?

Gotta believe it wont end with the end of the PAC.

All I know is we might never see Iowa get in a Rose Bowl blowout loss again.

Let's be honest, though - outside of Jim McMahon and Scott Sterling, does anyone actually care about BYU? (and yes, I know technically Sterling was a 2-sport athlete for Yale, but if you know, you know)
Yeah, they come knocking at my door every six months. Usually two males. Five foot ten inches tall. See them lately?

I mean they got an independent deal from ESPN to leave the WAC. Their stadium and environment is legit. They have a national following. Hard to have people care that much when you’re in the PAC or independent.

BYU has a national fan base though, so relegating it to Utah’s population isn’t accurate.

For BYU as the first and broader anudience add, correct. For UU it’s just their divided population very similar to small market ISU. You’re adding more of just that small state where you already had the state.

Utah’s positives are they’ve had fb success slightly above the b12 average and they have a real fanbase (like ISU and unlike many of the Pac brethren they worship, almost like they fit our CULTURE better).

Real fans are starting to finally matter again and Utah has fans, butthurt moron fans, but fans.

If Big 10 picks up 4 and Big 12 picks up 4, that means Fox and Espn will pay for 8, but not all 10 together. What did Fox and ESPN accomplish by basically picking up the PAC 10 minus two? I realize OSU and WSU not worth much, but was it worth all the hassle? That’s why I think Arizona comes and Pac stays together minus UA and Colorado IMHO.

Soooooo, if these adds go through with the B1G and B12, ESPN and Fox will be paying out their ass for teams they had access to for much less. What happens when the GORs need extended for a conference like the B12 or future ACC/PAC9 leftovers? I just have a feeling the major money is gonna end up in the hands of the big 2 when all is said and done and the rest will be fighting for scraps.

It’s the corporate consolidation playbook. Keep squeezing out the lesser tiers until you have control with the top one or two. Then you pay the “lesser folks” nothing because they don’t have any options.

That excited huh?

Careful too much of that and you will go blind.

I'm still a few pages behind (1192), but this is how I feel. I may be a bit naive and ignorant about this sort of thing, but hear me out.

The Big XII just needs to start consistently competing for national titles and perhaps win a few over the next decade.

Obviously you all know that 15 of the last 17 national champs (since Texas won it) have been either SEC schools or Ohio State.

Despite getting rocked by Georgia (Michigan would have been beaten worse), I like to think TCU helped change the narrative a little bit, at least in the short term.

As long as the Big XII is no longer one and done in the playoffs (Oklahoma/Cincinnati), and we at least advance to the quarterfinals and semis consistently, then actually make the title game a few times, while winning once or twice, we can help close the gap a little bit more with the money versus the SEC/Big Ten over the next decade when the new media rights deals are up. For example, instead of 50%, maybe we can get closer to at least 66% of the SEC/Big Ten.

As you all know, it's really all about perception and branding at this point.

Again, I probably have no clue what I am talking about, but just wanted to share my thoughts.

Precisely. I’d assume this is why they were telling us to hold at 14 as well.

With all the FSU chatter, I feel it's a heads up to Clemson, UNC, Miami, etc. that they should be prepared to jump by Aug15- if they want to leave the ACC as well.

So I would put my under on FSU leaving by Aug 8.

I am putting my money on nothing happening to the ACC. Nobody is leaving that conference. If you wanted to put a friendly wager out there where the loser pays We Will I’m in.
