Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Monty show says the deal that was presented includes the following:

  • Apple is the carrier, so 100% streaming.
  • Each school receives a guaranteed $15 million base with an opportunity to earn as much as another $15 million or more based on number of subscriptions the school generates.
Apple wants to turn the Pac into Amway or Mary Kay Cosmetics and make the schools have to sell Apple subscriptions. If that wasn't bad enough, given the weak fan support, it's unlikely the Pac schools will hit any of the significant escalator thresholds.

There's no way the Pac schools who have options agree to this. Arizona will be joining the Big 12 very soon. Mark it down.

The only question left to answer is whether any of the remaining schools with some degree of attractiveness (ASU, UU, UO, and UW) end up in the Big 12 too.

They also said the Big 12 gave Arizona a deadline for this Friday.

These are interesting times for College football. Are we witnessing the downfall of the PAC12? Does the PAC12 survive, but take in MWC teams and/or SMU? I do believe Arizona will be the next member of the BIG12 after the PAC12 media deal reveal today. I believe the PAC12 Presidents have known about the media deal details for some time. They all should be fired if they were not informed and updated regularly. These things are not surprises. I think Colorado knew the numbers and that is why they left.

You don't think the SEC would be interested in that 3rd (or 4th if they just play later) time zone? If not, that's good for a 20 team Big 12. Again not saying they're a lock, just that I could see it happening and the Utah fans would be terrible.

What 4 ACC schools do you see in the SEC? Do they bring more value than an extra time zone?
SEC wants Clemson FSU and NC the only team west of the Mississippi they may go after is Oklahoma State.

The SEC would not take FSU & Miami- they already have the Gators.

IMO FSU, Clemson, UNC and Virginia are going to be fought over. Miami is a big target, but they might wait until FSU decides.

No, if the ACC breaks up, it is a given that UNC and UVA are going to the B10. Not even a remote chance they would go anywhere else.

There is no way FSU, Clemson and NC are leaving the ACC due to the grant of rights through 2036. These rumors are bogus. wait for 10 more years and then revisit these rumors.

Agree. The SEC is the only conference that can basically remain within their geographic area and thrive. They will have no interest in PAC schools. They can pick apart the ACC or the Big 12 whenever they want in the future.

I'm not sure that Virginia has better athletic support than Virginia Tech. It's a more prestigious school but VTU is a good school too.

Since this has devolved into the pods discussion I'll throw in my two cents! After a certain size (16 or 18) conferences should just operate with 2 divisions that essentially function as there own conferences for scheduling and what not, but only align for media deal negotiations and championships.

I tend to agree that UNC & UVA go to Big10.

But from a recruiting standpoint, does joining Big10 create new fertile recruiting territory for UNC/UVA? Just don't see those 2 schools focusing on recruiting Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, etc.

If UNC/UVA jump to SEC, they gain visibility in SEC Territory- AL, TN, MS & TX. I bet they would recruit those states hard.

Anyone else think it’s funny these other schools are taking this stance while Colorado last week said “**** you, I’m out”
They rat finked out of the B12 and they rat finked out of the PAC. We shouldn't be surprised by their willingness abandon ship.
