what the hell are these schools suppose to do?? it's getting to point someone has to step in and be like ok enough fighting over every damn penny let's all get together and figure out what the future of college football looks like. cause let's be real football revenue drives all of this 10x more than anything else.

it's 2023. how is there not more structure at this point.

Just out of curiosity, would the current media deal have to get renegotiated if we add more teams? I have not seen anything posted about that. Thanks in advance

The NCAA failed. Money got in the way and now the genie is out of the bottle.

There is a pro rata deal in the existing deal that allows adding more teams at the existing per-school payouts, as long as they are P5 schools

Live on less money most likely. Vanity and arrogance has eventually ruined many. Truck Stop Conference not even a possibility for most. I’ll shed the same amount of tears they shed for the Big 12.

It's Greed, pure and simple. Some brands are worth more than others. Why share when you can have it all to yourself?

Doubtful but if we can get OU/Wash somehow we would be in a good position for the next deal. This last thing was just an extension, so it’s not that long until the Reup comes.

We aren't doing divisions. We are doing protected rivals and a rotating schedule, like B1G and ACC have already done. There's a reason that divisions are dying out as a concept. They aren't fair
As conferences get bigger, I think we'll see a return to divisions. More important to play a bigger group of rivals annually than play every team on a 2 or 4 year rotation.

Every professional sports league has made divisions work. Because their playoffs require winning 2-3 series/games to be champ. CFB is moving to a 12 team playoff, so winning the championship is going to take 4 wins for an underdog.

If there is a concern at a conference level of a weak team winning their CCG, that can be addressed through a CCG playoff. Include 4 teams/division winners and flex the final week of the conference schedule.

A conference could also flex 2 divisions on a 2 year rotation based on projected strength.

I see no reason for CCG's once the CFP includes 12 teams. Name Conference Champ based on record or ranking. But that won't happen because CCG's are a money maker.

Recruiting visits go like this, "Hey Jimmy, we'd love for you to come play football at our school. Only thing is, we need you to get five of your friends to sign up, then get five of their friends to sign up. All the while, you reap the benefits. The more people you get to sign up, the higher up the depth chart you go.

It's been said over and over again in this thread that our current media deal accommodates adding up to 4 new schools. As long as they're P5 schools ESPN has agreed to pay the new schools what the rest of the schools are making the moment they enter the conference (pro rata). Fox has agreed to pro rata with Colorado and it's anticipated they'll do the same with Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Utah, and/or Arizona St. If UConn is added it's a different story - not completely certain, but ESPN would likely treat them as a P5 addition, but Fox might not.
