The only problem with that logic is a 9 team conference can only show 4 games a week vs. 5. Networks are paying for inventory.Obviously X/10 < X/9. And I am certain the the CW didn’t pay attention at all today so X won’t decrease and the deal is still in place as it was.
All kidding aside, with the same deal divided 9 ways, the rumored 21 million dollar deal changes to 23.3 million and still trails the big 12 by ~10 million per year. Roughly 70%.
As much praise that Yormark deserves right now, don't forget that Bowlsby brought in 4 strong enough schools to put the Big 12 in the position they are today. More importantly I think, he really went after ESPN and other leagues for colluding against trying to dissolve and divy up the Big 12 two years ago. He also banded the remaining Big 12 members together to stand up to UT and OU and not let them off the hook, and requiring them to stay their remaining 3-4 years per the GOR. The league also could have accepted a good buyout offer, but knew they needed to buy themselves as much time as possible to expand and get their ducks in a row prior to the UT/OU exit. Pollard also seemed to play a crucial leadership role in all of this as well.
Interesting take…I was thinking about that too when Colorado rumours first started. I’m still a little salty they left in the first place…12 years ago when they left, everyone was cursing Colorado. Funny how things change.I'm annoyed that Colorado is coming back to the big 12. Colorado left the big 12 for the "greener pastures" of the pac-12, jumping off what they thought was a sinking ship. People were talking about Iowa State going to be left out of that first realignment and Colorado was fine watching it all fall apart.
Big 12 should have just let Colorado sink with the pac-12. Maybe they could have joined the mountain west eventually.
And apparently I'm still butthurt. Never did like that school.
I know a handful of OSU fans personally. Great people, seems like an awesome college town. Seems like kindred spirits to ISU for sure. Very similar vibe and culture. Feels like losing something that helps make college football, college football. For those who “feel bad” for Oregon State and Washington State in all of this, I ask…why??
Show me anyone…just one person…who is affiliated with either of those schools who was wringing their hands for us during all of this realignment stuff. I’m talking all the way back to when we were going to be relegated to the Big East over a decade ago.
Ok. Personal connections are different. I respect that.I know a handful of OSU fans personally. Great people, seems like an awesome college town. Seems like kindred spirits to ISU for sure. If you want to categorize an entire fanbase, team, university, and town by a few loudmouths online, that's your prerogative I guess.
They will finally get to claim some recent national titles in men’s basketball. Why actually win them when you can just invite those from outside who have.
I’m with you on the CU thing. I get it, if ISU had a PAC invite 13 years ago, I’d have been pissed if we didn’t take it. That being said, Personally, I think CU are rats that jump ship at the first sign of trouble. What bothers me the most about CU though is the golden butt plug up their ass. They seem to be able to find a home, no matter how bad they are at football. If this happened to the Big 12 right after ISU’s Fiesta bowl victory, we’d still be in Wazzu or OSUs shoes with nowhere to go. Blows my mind what makes a team valuable, but, they were the first domino we needed to fall, so I get why we snapped at the chance.Interesting take…I was thinking about that too when Colorado rumours first started. I’m still a little salty they left in the first place…12 years ago when they left, everyone was cursing Colorado. Funny how things change.
After taking the aggravation from 12 years ago from the equation, this is ultimately good for ISU and the B12- not so much because Colorado moves the needle a whole lot, but more so because it increases the possibility that we get more/better schools to follow. It’s pretty awesome they’re back. Excited to see the next domino fall.
