Well if I buy 4 premium seats for all flights then it nearly doubles the cost to fly, seems easier to expect humans to be decent right?

I expect people to get cattle car accommodations for the price they paid. You saved money by sitting in a crappy seat. Your choice. Vacation somewhere affordable you can drive to. That would benefit everyone involved. Save some money and buy your kids an IPAD or tablet.

So if your kid kicks seats or bangs into them, its just kids and you are being decent, but if someone reclines the seat, they aren't being decent? Seems like there is a disconnect here.
My kids don’t kick seats, they play cards on the tray table and get excited at times. I often tell them to stop and apologize to the person in front. If they person reclines their seat I don’t do those things. Pretty simple

It's quite the microcosm.

Are you the person who only gets closer to someone who's following traffic laws to show how angry you are that they're not driving their car through others?

You clearly aren’t a parent, it’s not a money thing here.

Didn’t read the full thread but as a person over 6’6”, I don’t mind if the person ahead of me reclines. It’s annoying sure, but it’s also their seat. What does annoy me is when the person ahead of me slams their seat back instead of a more subtle recline.

Ever flown with children? We didn’t buy iPads and headphones for our kids like every parent that wants their kid to sit there and shut up. They are good kids but like most 5 and 7 year olds they are very active and some people can see that as not annoying.
Yeah but my kids are actually good, and not "oh they're just kicking your seat because they're kids, but they're actually good kids" good.

Again I think this is the 3rd time I’m saying it, my kids aren’t Dennis the menace. They don’t kick the seats.

I have a hard time understanding how this is always such a controversial, sometimes heated, topic. The amount that an airline seat can recline is essentially a neutral zone between that seat and the one behind it. Similar to the armrest between two seats. Neither person has some type of exclusive right to that space. Some people are more passive/considerate and never use an armrest between seats or recline their seat and other people will use any extra space they can get on a plane. The only two clear cut etiquette rules I know are don't recline your seat prior to takeoff and if you recline don't jam it back quickly.

You are 6’ 5”. Too large for an economy standard seat. Let the person in front of you recline and give them a small bit of comfort anyway. You do not fit even if they remain upright.

“Hey kids … we can’t afford first class to Disneyworld so we’ll drive Adventureland instead. Hope that’s ok!”

Let me get this straight, so because I am tall I should pay extra money sit away from my wife and kids so some jerk can recline? You think I am the only person who thinks this way?

OP add a poll to this thread so we can vote on it.
