I guess I feel like Pollard knows that for Cytown to work, he's going to need concerts at Stephens. That's a big part of it. But unless the general university is kicking in, we're not going to see major changes there until Hilton is done and Cytown is up and running.

Cant wait to be there for 2 days this week for dance recitals.
Work on adapting SW entrance for accessibility was in progress May 23. For a few years now there's been a center walk-across row on the main floor with accessible seating I believe.
Plans already in progress for complete redoing of restrooms on the main floor/north side ground level, although I think men's and women's sides will be reversed.
Concessions: what is missing, in your opinion? What do you think should be there? And how does Stephens compare with other "music" venues? I'm asking because I haven't been anywhere other than Civic Center in Des Moines for a very long time.

Last time for me at CY was decades ago— The Modern Jazz Quartet. One of the best shows I’ve seen.
Maybe its a different setup for other events but for recital its usually just 1 person up there with very limited selection. I hate standing in lines, I really hate standing in lines when it is mostly over hyper kids buying more sugar.

If Chicago can have the biggest piece of **** theater still active then Pollard can work with this cement truck of a venue.

Pollard isn't anti-Stephens. He simply sees it for what it is, namely a great venue that is way behind on deferred maintenance. And he also acknowledged the obvious that we all experience, such as entering Stephens from the back is weird. As much as some folks try to make this an Arts/Academic vs. Athletics battle, Pollard is the best thing to happen in leadership of the Iowa State Center in decades. Because of Pollard, there is hope to reverse the trend.
Admittedly, it's been a long time since I've been there, but what do you mean entering from the back?
The main entrance is on the north end, and 99% of the parking is on the south. It's effectively backwards.
Tee it up high for any that want to go for it.

Most people enter from the south, but this is the back of the building (which also has the garage doors and stage entrance). The building is oriented towards the north. I imagine the idea was to orient it towards campus, but it ends up giving an ugly view for most people actually using it.
They did similar for Scheman and Hilton, you can tell the north entrance to hilton is the nicer looking entrance.
Yes...that's a fair point. I can imagine some efficient and aesthetically pleasing ways to give people access to the rear entrance (go for it!!!). I just hope when the money is available, it's done in a way that makes sense with the scale and architecture of the building and not something that is simply practical. I know they had a master plan for the ISC (must be more than a decade ago at this point), but I don't remember any details.
