So is this a we're leaving to the PAC, but can't confirm until Colorado officially leaves? Or are they Colorado's partner to the Big12, but can't be sure until Colorado leaves the PAC?

Interesting…
Thamel followed up the tweet with another saying SDSU doesn’t have an invite from the P12. To me that says:
1.) GK has given them a verbal invite once they have a deal
2.) GK has given them a verbal invite contingent on a member leaving, but there was a holdup on that
3.) SDSU has an invite to the Big 12?

Honestly I'm kind of surprised the pac 12 isnt inviting them either way. If they stay together they would probably want them to keep their presence in southern california. If they dont, the remnants definitely need that backfill
George K. and the Pac fans believe this new deal is an outlier and that they won't be hamstrung by the economy, ESPN layoffs, Fox not involved, Big 12 going first, etc. the next time around, in about 5 years. Thus, Pac schools have to weigh going to a new conference for long term or sticking it out with the schools they want to be a part of knowing the monetary and exposure impact will be a blip. That is what the Pac is thinking. So if you're a Pac school, your choice is to stay in your current conference with a crappy payout, crappy exposure, and no long term stability (given your two best remaining teams are looking to ship at their first opportunity), or you can move to a another power conference with better financials, better exposure, and much better long-term stability.
Sounds like a no brainer to me, but what do I know.
Potentially. But it could be #1 too and they anticipated the deal to get done by June 30.It's gotta be either 2 or 3. PAC isn't in a position to expand. They're either a PAC backfill or a partner with CU. They basically got the Iowa non-commitable offer.
Agree so I think the hesitation is probably on SDSU’s part. If the PAC totally implodes (WAOR, 4 Corners all gone)they may want to stick MWC and have the remnants join them there.Honestly I'm kind of surprised the pac 12 isnt inviting them either way. As I mentioned above…the PAC is a disaster. Absolute unmitigated disaster. Don’t see many sports reporters noting this in their reporting. ********.

I thought about that too. Depends how much distaste those schools would have for Stanford and Cal I think.Even that doesnt make sense to me though.
A pac remnants+best of the mwc backfill conference likely gets a better deal (because it can dump the lowest performing MWC schools)
I stand corrected here after reading the article. It sounds like SDSU’s letter was more to ask for an extension on the year’s notice/exit fee increase. Probably to give more time for a P12 deal and subsequent invite.Potentially. But it could be #1 too and they anticipated the deal to get done by June 30.
It’s possible the reason they need an extension is the deal may or may not be finalized by June 30.
I don’t see why SDSU would submit this unless they had a landing spot secured.
I think a lot of people are misinterpreting all the "we're staying together, we're committed to the PAC" talk as meaning no one wants to leave, they all hate the idea of associating with the Big XII, etc.Which leads me back to the same place…
WHERE IS THE DEAL?
Not sure I’d have said the second part. The MWC basically said screw you and we take the letter as intent to resign.
