Has anyone else noticed this? I tried to go in there at about 8 last night and it was locked up with a sign on the door "Keg Shop closed until further notice"

Does anyone have any idea what happened here? I loved that place!

I don't know what happened. I was in Ames last weekend however, and got to use my favorite parking spot again, right behind the keg-shop. (never been towed in 6+ years) There was a Chevy Cavalier parked there that hasn't moved since I was a freshman at ISU. I graduated in 06.

This cannot be!! Boy, I guess the economy must be really bad!

They used to sell a case of Dubuque Star longnecks for $5.99 back in the 80s...the good old days!

I know they had no problem putting about 5 kegs of Little Kings in the back of a 1979 whale station wagon for a 19 year old back in the 1980's. Evil....but a good evil.
Keg Shop....RIP.

I heard rumors about a tax problem but i was trying to see if anyone else had heard anything...if this is a repercussion from the economy, it has gotten bad if a keg shop on Welch Avenue cant stay open

The Keg Shop is actually going through a new ownership change. The process is just taking a bit longer than expected. From what I hear, it should be open in a couple weeks, if not sooner.

I went there with a couple buddies Saturday night and it was closed then too. There was a sign on the door that said closed until further notice. Hope it's back in operation soon.

Every time I went in there this year it seemed like their stock was incredible low... they attributed it to high sales the previous few days but it seemed that way no matter what day I went in (Tues-Sun)

My record for most beer bought underage was at the keg shop. Granted this was 16 years ago.

25 kegs, two trips with my truck. Veishea, I wish I remembered it.

Ahhh, good ol' Keg Shop Friday afternoon fire sales. Where else could you get a case of Natty Lite for $5?

Yeah, it's changing ownership. They have been trying to get ride of all their liquor inventory and when new cases of beer came in they didn't even take inventory, they just sold them. They will be restocking everything and be back open in full force in a couple of weeks.

When they changed owners about 2 years ago, it really went down hill. It went from a mountain of beer on fire sale to about 3 cases of miller lite laying on the floor. Hopefully these new owners restore it to its pre-2007 greatness.
