Caleb Grill has entered the portal and committed to Mizzou

Caleb "got rid of ISU" once already though, so I don't get it. His mom at the time went on Twitter to try and give a reason/diffuse it.

Again, just weird to me. I won't cheer for either player.
The weird social media stuff when he left the first time made me unenthusiastic for his return. The weird stuff at the home game against Texas was embarrassing.

What social media stuff?
He had an injured hand, there were rumors that he was forced to play thru it/that maybe he was wasn't as hurt as he was/that maybe he was hurt way more than we all know.
His mom was tweeting out support for the staff, trainers, etc.

One chose to leave, and talked crap while doing it.
The other, the decision was made for him, albeit based on his abhorrent behavior.
Which one are you rooting for?

So actual abhorrent behavior is more accepted than just talking crap?

If so, not exactly a sparkling endorsement of one having their priorities in line don't you think? Do what you want.......just don't say anything. Wow!

And to answer your question....................neither.

We still don't know what Grill did or said to TJ either. Maybe that will be de-classified in 2050 and we'll finally figure out the truth.

Think about the relationship TJ and Grill had from the beginning.

Then think how bad things probably had to get for TJ to do what he did. And it was worse than that.

So go ahead and bad mouth Hunter........all you see when you think of him is Steve Prohm anyway. So it's to be expected.

But the truth is all Hunter did was transfer, that's it and that's all. He owed no one at ISU anything. In fact.......he didn't even have to come after Prohm was canned. But he listened to TJ and became conference freshman of the year and floor general that helped TJ have a incredible first season. After, he wanted something else. Such a crime, right? But you go ahead and be you.

Hunter leaving was part of what's been fun/interesting/dramatic about sports for a long long time. It was so much fun him coming back to Ames and us beating him after he ran his mouth a little bit. It's basically harmless outside of feelings getting hurt.

Caleb leaving is entirely different. There's a ton more too it that none of us will probably ever know. But it wasn't great. I hope Caleb is able to land somewhere where he can find success both on the court and off.

Has nothing to do with Prohm. From what I heard he just quit school and cutoff his teammates right after the tourney last year. Then he's immediately in the transfer portal.

He then goes to a team with the worst basketball tradition of the 6 offers he had, then proceeds to lie to us saying money had nothing to do with it.

I'm sorry some of you guys still love Hunter, but he's a sellout imo.

I don't love him at all...I don't care about him! Either way! He is not in my head at all...never think about him other than when I read on the board about him. He didn't want to be here...he left. He didn't torch the school. He didn't leave in a way that some on this board wished for. So what. He went after the money. He played here for a year...had some brilliant moments...and some head-scratcher moments. He left. Whatever. To me, Hunter's situation was way less frustrating than trying to figure out the Grill situation as it was playing out. What happened with Grill might call for more empathy or more ire...we really don't know all that much other than it came to a head (at least publicly) quickly.

I don't know the reason(s) for Hunter's transfer and I don't know what Grill did or said but I lean to supporting Grill more than Hunter because I thought Hunter was a major part of our program's turnaround in his first year and I thought we were going to have a least one more year of his contributions, primarily leadership, but he abandoned us and exacerbated the situation by going to a competitor in our own conference that has always had more coin than conscience. My expectations for Grill's contributions, although good were not as great as Hunter's so the pain wasn't as bad. Also Grill publicly took responsibility for his actions, which I interpreted as repentance. Hopefully Grill meant what he wrote, learned from it, and will grow. I wish him well; Hunter I don't care about unless he is playing us, then it's a different story.

On the other hand Hunter is a punk looking for a payday then trashes the program.
Did he leave and cutoff everyone or did he trash the program?
Make up your mind.

Both from what I heard.

The main difference to me is Grill admitted he was wrong and took responsibility for his situation. Hunter decided to take the opposite route and act immature, lie, and act like he was outsmarting grown adults.
OK, "what did you hear?" Not what you read on here, what did you hear?

Hunter's situation to me is similar to Wes Johnson. Brother handling him, kind of leaving in the night, shocking, etc.
Grill's situation to me is similar to Cameron Lard. Wanted to be here, oozed potential/but couldn't harness it all, booted off the team.

I don’t really care about either of them, but creating a toxic environment and then getting kicked off the team mid season is worse than just leaving in the transfer window IMO.

Just because I'm not "in the know" with this other program, I wonder what the reaction of kstate fans was/is about Nigel Pack going to Miami for a pay day. At the end of the day why is it different from Hunter? For me, a more proven high level scorer like Pack would be a tougher pill to swallow. At the end of day, I always felt Hunter's talent/output was a lot easier to replace.
