Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

I think MHaver does get told things from time to time by somebody. Getting the exact date of a rumored meeting correct is pretty strange or lucky I suppose.

I think he also decides to put different pieces of info together here and there, tries to fit them together however that might be even if it doesn't make sense, creates wild inferences with that info, and then tries to report
The guy has been gushing "confidential insider information" for years. There is no way a hole that large doesn't get plugged quickly. This has been going on for many years. On a rare occasion he gets something right, law of chances I guess

Right. MHver just throws out every possible outcome. When he gets one right, he pins it and act like he had information and it's validating his credibility.

I did. With WAOR and 4 corners, Big 12 should be able to be able to renegotiate their contact, at least that is my assumption. I guessed $40 million each.

Do you really think those 4 are worth that much more individually than the current Big12 teams? I see them inline with what we have, but not significantly above that they would bring in more money.

In order to go from $32m to $40m, those teams would have to be worth $44m on average. I just don't see them that far and above our current 12 members. If they join, I don't expect the per team payout to change at all.

They would have to be worth 64 each to get us to 40.

I'm sure he has insider sources. But those sources are feeding him what they want to be in public, whether that's truth or a smokescreen to influence other conferences. So if WV (or the Big12 for that matter) wants a rumor to be out there, he's their guy to make that happen. But you've gotta feed him enough legitimate information to make the smoke screens realistic.

That math ($40M) doesn't make sense. That would mean that those 6 Pac12 teams would add $340M dollars to the Big12's existing deal of $380M.

If that was the case some of those schools would already be in the Big10 or SEC.

Even if there is some "incremental" benefit above the Big12's current $31.7M per school for adding those 6 Pac12 schools, when it gets distributed over 18 teams, the max increase would only be a couple million per school.

And why would the Big12 want to "reopen" it's ESPN/Fox extension? No guarantee ESPN or Fox would match what's already on the table.

I'm pretty sure ESPN has already accounted for any Big12 expansion with it's pro-rata close.

And FOX doesn't have a pro-rata with Big 12, so for Big 12 to expand Yormark is going to need to get Fox to pony up more money OR Yormark is going to need to get Amazon, Apple, etc to fill FOX's void.

I look at him as a rumor aggregator. He may have a source, but maybe not. I think he looks at a lot of different message boards etc., aggregates the rumors, and then spins them off as his own sources. Some are maybe true, others not. I follow him for entertainment purposes because some of the theories are pretty damn interesting. That doesn't mean they should be believed.

I just posted this like 20 minutes ago…”this isn’t just about the money. It’s also about the future money”. You can’t just vacuum this and only be concerned about the $$$ right now. That’s why guys like Yormarck make a few mill a year and we’ll make a few mill in our lifetimes if we’re lucky.

I think most people follow him because they want what he says to be true.

I don't follow him, but he's inescapable in my feed, and I think the big reason I hate him so much is because I want what he says to be true, but know that it isn't.

He's like a deadbeat dad that calls once a month and promises to take his kid to a baseball game and every month has a new excuse as to why he can't. Once every couple years he follows through, and that keeps the kids inspiring hope.

Lol...MHver....the deadbeat dad of realignment! Kind of has a ring to it!

Fox doesn't have a pro-rata for additional teams because it isn't additional games for them. This is additional games for ESPN, thus the clause for them. But, as ESPN isn't paying $31.7m per team now, I doubt the clause would make the league whole when adding teams. But I'm sure those numbers are worked out already and if any current Big12 school has an issue with it, this wouldn't be going on.

Thats the other possible outcome here, yeah.

I guess the $40 million per year might be a little high. Sounded good, nice round number. Figured the west coast time slot would be worth something additional.

That's why I think Yormark might have to bring in a 3rd (or 4th) media partner if we add Pac12 teams.

Obviously, ESPN already has Pac12 content with Sat after dark and some Thu/Fri night games. So my guess is their pro-rata with Big12 would fill those games. I am also sure ESPN would be willing to add Pac12 hoops to ESPN+ and Pac12 some football. I looked back and ISU had 3 FB games on ESPN+ last season: UNI, Ohio and WVU.

Fox has televised Pac12 games in the past, so they might have timeslots to expand their Big12 deal if Pac12 schools are added. They might do so to block Amazon or Apple.

But if Fox doesn't increase their investment to allow Big12 to stay at $31.7M, Yormark is going to need to get CBS, NBC, Amazon or Apple to fill that piece.

This dude has to be in on the joke at this point

JFC, Altimore is so dumb.

I’m going to say this for the millionth time, and I want everyone to read it and understand:

The athletic conference in which a school plays has zero impact on research. Zero. It likely has zero impact, particularly in the PAC schools or an ASU feeder program in LA, and interest in such a program. Zero.

Particularly for these PAC schools, athletics is a tiny part of overall revenue. And putting up a satellite campus elsewhere is like half a step beyond their online program.

Just stop Altimore, you’re embarrassing yourself. You were completely wrong so far every step of the way, and random message board idiot has been pointing out why.

He’s like a guy clinging to his wargame model that said Russian flags would be flying in Kiev by now.
