Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Im still waiting for those complaining about this thread getting derailed to add some content about the subject at hand.

Great way to get the thread back on track is to actually post something about the subject, instead of complaining about the one you dont want to talk about.

My guess is you grew up in and lived in one of the largest cities in Iowa your entire life....and have rarely if ever ventured out of those cities to experience rural life. Because Iowa as a rural state, the Rural areas are very big on Racing and Nascar. There is a reason there is a racetrack at basically every County Fairground, and then some.

Maybe you havent heard of the Knoxville Nationals, Boone Nationals etc. Racing is Huge in Iowa.
Rural areas are shrinking and aging in population, What the #### else is there to do.

I have mixed feelings on this. While I don't really think any type of Motorsports really fit as sports as in traditional sense, they do at least count as sports and unless you put them completely in their own category they at least are a subcategory of sports in general.

And with that, anyone that says it doesn't take physical ability to race in Nascar for hours at a time, or in a Motocross race or a superbike race, or throwing a snowmobile around in a Snocross race, or the extremes of an Indy race, I would have to say knows very little about motorsports.
Don’t disagree it takes talent, dedication, skills, etc - I just dislike all sports but basketball and football:)

That's not a great look for NASCAR. If we're 4th, that means there's a whole lot of states that couldn't care less and there aren't a whole lot that do care.
You would think so until you find out how many people stream races originating in Iowa, especially Knoxville and that’s why NASCAR Is here to stay.

And the study is based on the percentage of people who Google NASCAR, not the total.

When you put them in neighborhoods that don't have a crush of traffic and do have lots of older drivers it's a disaster waiting to happen.

It's not like older drivers always stop for stop signs either. Roundabouts are much safer than the uncontrolled intersections or inspections with yield signs. Yes, there is a learning curve. It took Cedar Falls residents a few months to get them figured out, but it's pretty smooth sailing now.

I just think for streets and intersections that aren't heavy traffic they're stupid and pointless and a big waste of space. In heavy traffic areas where they do make sense, I'm all for them.

The brands and schools of UW, UO, UA, ASU don’t deserve the MW. There is empathy with W/O SU and their situation. None of this is cool. We just have good seats.

Fun interview, the reporter from Seattle was pretty entertaining.

One thing I feel the media gets wrong is the characterization the new Pac 12 deal with Amazon will be a streaming deal. And then they go characterize the move as forward thinking, but maybe ahead of its time.

But are we talking about streaming or is the correct terminology, a subscription based service? I can stream linear networks like NBC, CBS, ABC, ESPN, etc. on a multichannel platform like YouTubeTV, Hulu+ & FuboTV. If the Pac12 deal was streamed on a pay multichannel platform- there wouldn't be resistance by some Pac12 schools to Kliavkoff's rumored deal.

What the Pac12 is proposing is having their Tier 1 Rights on a subscription service where fan's will have to pay at least $15/month. With the Big12, we have our Tier 3 Rights on a subscription service ESPN+.

I guarantee the vast majority of Pac12 fans already have an Amazon prime account so there will be zero add on price for most of them. I have absolutely zero stats to back that up but I’m going with it anyways

Now tier 1 on streaming is a horrific idea to draw eyeballs but it could be used as a stop gap to keep the pac alive until the next round of realignment. They clearly don’t have a good option but this could be the best chance to hold the conference together

OK .... Here Goes

1. There is only a place for one of the PAC and Big12. Advantage Big2
2. Money between PAC and Big 12 difference. Conjecture Advantage Big12
3. Innovative and Creative. Advantage Big12
4. Commissioner - ADVANTAGE BIG12

Hoping someway we can get a couple marque schools in the conference, whether thats Oregon, Washington or ACC shcools that want to be a part of somthing special.
