Some of those ladies shouldn't be out of college that long it might mean we are getting old.

I take anything from the ESPN talking heads, including their self-proclaimed bracket "expert" Chucky Creme, with a grain of salt but his update bracket page lead with a blurb about our Cyclones.

"On Monday, Iowa State did what Ohio State could not: righted the ship. Despite playing higher-rated teams, both desperately needed wins to stop a free fall. The Cyclones, a top-16 team most of the season before a three-game losing streak earlier this month, led Texas start to finish in Ames to split the season series with the Longhorns. The win doesn't return Iowa State to the top 16 yet, but the possibility of hosting is still in play." ESPN 2/14/2023

He has us as a #5, location and opponents are just spitballing BS so won't bother repeating that.

Others:
Texas #4
Oklahoma #5
Baylor #7
Kansas #8
OSU #9

Thinking we should move up a couple of spots in the polls. We should see some shuffling of the #20's and high teens with our two good wins.

Teams around us:
#16 UCLA beat both Oregon's.
#17 Texas lost to us.
#18 Arizona drilled #21 Colorado.
#19 UNC lost to NC State.
#20 Gonzaga beat a couple of crap teams.
#21 UNLV beat two "who cares".

Noticing that we have played 24 games and almost everyone else in the polls has played 27 or 28.

The other P5 conferences finish their season a week earlier than the Big 12, so they have more games in at this point.

End of regular season
Pac-12: Feb. 25 (tournament: March 1-5)
ACC: Feb. 26 (tournament; March 1-5)
Big Ten: Feb. 26 (tournament: March 1-5)
SEC: Feb. 26 (tournament: March 1-5)
Big 12: March 4 (tournament: March 9-12)

I wouldn't mind a trip to Boulder if we aren't able to host. A little nostalgia.

That and we also had the Drake game cancelled with no make-up date or replacement.

Also we only scheduled 29 games whereas many other teams scheduled 30 or 31.

I hadn't heard about this story but thought it was worth posting.

Heartbreaking story. This team has dealt with lots of adversity. This act of kindness is another example of the Cyclone Way as CBF says.

"It’s bigger than basketball."

How could you not shed a tear seeing the loss of a 13-year-old child? Knowing she had a close association with Iowa State wbb Staff and players is incredibly moving. Loss and inspiration, but why are so many kids dying?

I just have to say this...every game I see folks post about how it would be different if we had Soares and Jordao. It would also be different if M&M's offense wasn't on vacation in the Bermuda Triangle. The loss of those two players hurts, but it's the hand we've been dealt. Moaning about those losses and their impact on games (such as tonight's game v OSU) is just a waste of time. One person said their wife was annoyed hearing that sound track played over and over. It's time to let it go. This is our team right now as it is. They win and lose with the players they have available and how those players perform. They are still one of the top teams in the conference (most of which was accomplished without the two posts). They still have a very good rating for NCAA seeding. Win the next three and a couple in the Big 12 tournament and they could step across that line to host the NCAAs once more. We just need to let the "what if" posts die.

You are correct, but easier said then done. I've just readjusted my expectations for this team.

It's such a chicken-or-the-egg type situation when you talk about a situation like Maggie's. Her offense has struggled, but she's never been allowed to get in a flow. She'll get a sporadic few minutes here and there and when she does she's parked in the corner on offense. She's attempted 21 shots in 14 games.

Bill hasn't exactly given her much opportunity to find her form and its biting him in the *** now with no depth to rely on.
