No one wants NFL lite. This is message board fodder and has never been talked about as something that is happening in the near future.
If the money talks and the networks want it then it will happen.

I like the big12. I’m telling you what Washington thinks. Two very different things. You act like the BIg 12 is so far beneath Washington. You act like the conference is an STD. Well then piss on UW then, let them hope and pray the B10 calls a coming or fall further into irrelevance where no one cares about the west coast.

Read up on Iger’s earnings call yesterday for Disney. He is not unloading ESPN anytime soon. Chapek talked about it a bit before being ousted but this rumor needs to die for now.Another reason to get the TV rights done early, by waiting PAC is running into strong headwinds, some of which is caused by ESPN probably not wanting to go out on the limb since Disney wants to unload it.
They might ask what would their AD would look like without football. Stanford has traditionally prided itself on being the best school in Olympic sports. Could they do that as part of the WAC, MWC or a new California centric conference?Yep super limited, no idea what they do athletically if the PAC dissolves.
Issue I take with that is I do not beleive there are 16 teams out there who are money makers for each to add. Just mentally i checked off Florida State, Miami, UVA, UNC, Oregon, Washington, Clemson. Thats only 7, and some of those are borderline money schools as it is. Even if you assume Notre Dame will want in you're still short 8 teams who likely won't add anything money wise and basically all major markets covered. So like, how we getting there? How about the SEC and B1G expanding to 24-ish teams with 4 divisions and a playoff. Sell the packages like the NFC-AFL deals the NFL has
Then you corner the OTA market, have content for ESPN - Fox - Comcast and rake in the cash
Yeah but it's basically true. And there's bitterness all the way up the chain. Go to a Harvard MBB game vs. Cornell or Penn or Dartmouth and you'll hear Harvard students chant "Safety School!" at them. Kind of funny actually.God I hate that public ivy term I heard it non stop on campus usually from bitter people that didn’t get into an ivy.
Yeah, I don't think there is much too this right now. Who the heck would be the potential buyers even if they wanted to sell?Read up on Iger’s earnings call yesterday for Disney. Also, im not sure how well thats going to be received. Who is the target market for NFL but shittier? How you avoiding antitrust lawsuits? Will the remaining schools boot the B1G and SEC from the NCAA Tournament, which is still the biggest money maker? Lots of reasons as to why that may fail
If the Big 10 doesn't want UO and UW, Im not sold they'd want VT...I may be wrong.Miami will go to the SEC, and VT will go to the Big 10. I think VT was on the Big 10 short list when Maryland and Rutgers were added.
Pretty sure he was thinking UVA. B1G has never been interested in VT from what I've seen and read.If the Big 10 doesn't want UO and UW, Im not sold they'd want VT...I may be wrong.

Zero interest in VT, never has beenIf the Big 10 doesn't want UO and UW, Im not sold they'd want VT...I may be wrong.
I love this podcast. Forde isn’t for everyone but I like him and they just have fun and call **** as they see it.
This is the SUPERLEAGUE that I was flogging as the end game when this all started with USCLA. I still think it is very likely to happen, unless tradition ends up overcoming money. Which historically, money is undefeated. How about the SEC and B1G expanding to 24-ish teams with 4 divisions and a playoff. Sell the packages like the NFC-AFL deals the NFL has

Agree, we don’t need to kill the PAC, it’s actually better to severely injure the PAC and let them survive. Then when the ACC gets carved by the big ten and SEC, we can pick up the next best pieces. This allows the PAC and ACC to both be tweeners so not too many teams get promoted well, the big ten and SEC don’t decide to just go 2 super conferences of 20 or so, and we are a solid #3.I think Im at the point where I just want Arizona and Arizona State. Oregon and Washington don't want to be anywhere but the Big 10. Utah's hate boner **** with BYU is annoying and they've been pulling the we're too good for you card. Oregon State, Washington State, Cal, and Stanford aren't adding anything. Colorado bailed once and they don't have much going for them to be a good add back.
Take the Zonas and wait for the ACCs eventually raid to come
Virginia would get the first call before VT.Miami will go to the SEC, and VT will go to the Big 10. I think VT was on the Big 10 short list when Maryland and Rutgers were added.
Yes, but he positioned himself to do so. And since he's now focused on content related revenue, ESPN needs to be cost effective across the board. IMO, this is bad for P12 and good for all others in ESPN's camp ... unless ESPN goes belly up (which I doubt, but is a remote possibility due to their existing highly leveraged contracts). Seeing the streaming losses this past quarter are pretty staggering.Read up on Iger’s earnings call yesterday for Disney. He is not unloading ESPN anytime soon.
