49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

I also don’t understand the sentiment that the Niners completely need to move on from Lance. They have zero reason to move him, his salary for next year is $3.76 mil and combined with Brock’s base of 900k you’re paying basically $4.5 million (plus a practice team QB probably)for your QB room. Garrapolo made 7 mil this year alone, so they’re stilling coming out ahead.

It does make Lance a relatively expensive backup, but with a cheap starter who cares?
The 49ers will not be looking to trade Lance unless they get offered at least one first round draft pick this off season. They can put out feelers and see what is out there. Plenty of teams are looking for a young QB and not all of them are going to get one in the draft.

Purdy's contract is for four years, runs through the 2025 season, if he continues at this level or close to it, after next season they will begin looking to lock him up on a new contract. I doubt if he continues to play at this level will they go into the 2025 season with the possibility that it he could walk at the end of the year.

What is amazing to me about Purdy is he has avoided the WTF moments that he had with ISU. He is not forcing the ball, fumbling it, or doing the things that drove many of us crazy. He is letting the game come to him, and so far, he looks at home on the big stage.
