49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

Yeah I don't understand this narrative that Brock wasn't good in college. He set tons of records and won a lot of games
I think people are misunderstanding. The question isn’t about whether or not Brock was good in college. It’s how was Our team not better then we were in 2021. people looking at him and Hall in the league and thinking they’re better than realized at the time. No one is questioning Brock - the question is about the football staff

This is a very important stretch for CMC and staff. How will they regroup and move on in the post-Breece and Brock era. We absolutely need better o-line play. I'm hoping the changes CMC has made in the off season will translate to a more consistent product on the field. But got to get big boys in here to compete!

Host of “The Gym” on KGYM 1600 in CR from 3 to 4 today said Purdy won’t win NFC ROTY…. and that he basically is just benefiting from having Kittle, McCaffrey, Samuel, Ayuik, etc.

Pretty much didn’t give Purdy any credit at all. This is exactly what ISU fans despise about all these radio shows…. so slanted towards Iowa no matter what, and always slighting anything ISU. It’s BS.

Every great NFL QB has had studs to throw to and RBs to carry the ball.

Can you imagine how much they would be creaming themselves with ROTY is in the bag if Purdy was a Howk.
One of the hosts is a Chiefs fan, the other a Bears fan.

And Joe Montana just benefited from Hall of Famers Roger Craig and Jerry Rice. I could go on and on. It's a stupid argument.

I hate their fans or just Haydenism moreso than the players….
I’ve lived in IC for 20+ years and have to bite my tongue every time I meet a young Hayden. Before leaving ISU, students took a whiz on the University President’s steps. Before leaving IC, I’ll urinate on the Fry statue on First Ave in Coralville! High Porch Picnic is the stupidest phrase ever used in a book title!

I knew Hall was the best running back in college football two years in a row and his stats showed it. He produced the most those two years in spite of our struggles on offense at times.

I wasn’t surprised at all the best college running back as a sophomore and junior was great in the NFL. Doak Walker Award voters were surely surprised but the people who actually watched Breece or even quickly glanced at his stats once weren’t surprised.

I suffered Bears fans for 15 years in Chicago. Purdy is a better QB than they had in that entire stretch. Kyle Orton as a boring game manager was the best QB in that time frame because the others all actively destroyed the team. If a bears fan on Iowa radio is bashing on Purdy there is some major psychological issues from Bears and Hawkeye football.

I know both of those guys personally and they are good guys. Usually fair to ISU, but if they're downplaying what Brock is doing, that's disappointing. I don't listen due to the time it's on, so I haven't heard it.

So BP is one of the most valuable assets in the NFL now. That can’t be disputed. He also just had a really good game, and there was meat left on the bone. With more experience he will only get better.

His ISU career and the team around him had the best run ISU ever had. If we want to question that time period we have to question if they should
Have had higher heights than what they already achieved.

So I like to look at it like their experience at ISU prepared them for the NFL. Has allowed them to reach their individual potential. If CMC can sell that, long term that’s great for ISU. Maybe their time could have been better than it was, maybe it was the max. But if they get to show that what they learned here translates to NFL/life success that is an ultimate win for ISU. And ultimately for them.

I didn't whiz on those steps. Is there a statute of limitations?

I had to laugh arguing with some guy on a Youtube video who said Purdy didn't belong on the same field as Jalen Hurts. I told him "You, know they actually played on the same field in a real game and Brock had better stats than Hurts in that game". The guy came back to me with experience and I was like "Yeah Hurts had way more college experience in that game too because Purdy was coming right out of high school and Hurts was a senior".

Not saying he's guaranteed as good, but the people acting like this is so astonishing are a little ignorant of high level college football, it's like they think these guys just come out of a test tube and are suddenly in the NFL.

You can easily argue that Craig and Rice benefitted from having Montana at QB. Look at what having Purdy at QB has done for Kittle's stats for the year. 7 TDs in 6 games, when he had 4 for the rest of the season.
