49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

Niners game plan today, run the rock a ton with McCaffrey - allow the defense to do their thing.

Wow, that seems to show literally no correlation between where a QB is taken vs. their performance. I would've thought there would be some sort of link ,but that's almost nil.

Remember that this is only their rookie year performance. I'd expect career performance to have a stronger correlation with draft pick.

I wanted to make this its own thread because of the controversy it's likely to stir, but was Brock's talent wasted here? Seriously, despite my post history, I'm not a hok troll.
I think it’s an interesting question. If you look at Purdy’s season, Hall’s season before the injury, Kolar, and Hutchinson it’s surprising they were not better than they were.

I’ve seen brief discussions of this online here and the knee jerk reaction is either (a) the offensive line and (b) Manning.

I don’t know the intracacies of football that well (was always more of a basketball guy), but I don’t know how you look at what Purdy and Hall are doing in the league and not ask any questions.

It’s definitely an interesting conversation.

Why are people dumbing this question? Are you honestly saying “nothing to see here”? I’m not trying to be antagonistic - I’m genuinely curious.

You’ve got NFL all-pro-level QB and RB the way Purdy and Hall played this year + all American tight end and wide receiver + #2 defense in the country in YPG and you go 7-6.

Honestly - what am I missing here that this isn’t even worth people asking?

"hey guys, Brock set every QB record at this school and led us to our first ever NY6 Bowl win in the history of the school, did we waste his talent?"

"Why are you dumbing me?"
I’m talking about his last season. And let’s not pretend setting QB records at ISU is any kind of a bench mark. The questions people are asking are directly related to the underachievement in 2021.
