*** Official Texas Tech vs #14 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

Have written this before, but cannot stand Tech Coach Mark Adams in our building. He had a checkered career at Pan Am,where I was a season ticket holder, and did not treat people right. Even operated a minor league hockey team in Lubbock at one time and got fined there for not following the rules. He’s a great bench coach but a bad guy. Took his Pan Am team into Hilton years ago and got beat, thankfully. However, his Tech squad has won in Hilton. It would be great if we reached 4-0 by beating Tech.
I am with you on weaselly Mark Adams, but his Tech team lost in Hilton last year. I realize he was with Beard for a couple wins in Hilton, but I am not convinced he is as good a coach as Beard.

Even if their injured players play, we match up better against them than the short handed team that we beat in Hilton last season. Obanor played that game and they had their best player in Williams. The backcourt was all long aggressive wings that they don't have this year. Harmon and Isaacs are the type of player that has trouble against us.

Who knew that all this time "Red Raider" was actually just a euphemism for those who suffer regularly from cases of self-imposed extreme chaffing...?

If Batcho doesn't play, then their tallest player is Obanor at 6'8" and he's definitely more of a wing player. I haven't watched enough of their games to see how they play without Batcho on the floor.

I've been expecting teams to defend us by sinking everyone into the lane except the Grill and Gabe defenders, since no one else is a reliable 3-pt shooter, and make us beat them from outside - but no one has yet. Even when Lipsey/Jones are running the pick and roll, they bring both defenders up high.

Given the size issues and the normal defensive style they play, I could definitely see TTU try that approach. Don't let us drive - get all the boards - and make us beat them with jump shots.

I don't know if I'd call Obanor a wing player. He definitely has wing skills and is a good shooter. But he will bully you inside if needed. Ask Jaz. Kind of the ideal stretch 4.

To combat that, we'll need to go down low early and often and honestly that's exactly what TJ has done in almost every single game this year. I think the post presences of Osun, Jones, and King will be huge factors tonight.

Should win this game but not a give me. If Hilton is rocking the way it should be, it’ll be enough for 4-0.

If you’re at the game tonight go crazy….or the Pizza is gonna send out for YOU.

They've got some young talent filling in for Batcho and Isaacs right now, but they are unproven as go-to guys. I think we focus on slowing down Harmon and Obanor and pounding the rock into our posts, going inside-out to get open looks for Grill/Kalscheur.

Just heard on a TTU podcast that all three guys who were out for TTU last game are in Ames and any/all could play. We'll see.

This could certainly change tonight but Mark Adams hasn't won as the head coach of Tech in Hilton. Last year was his first year as the head coach and they lost.
I didn’t like seeing him on the bench when Beard’s team did. Plus on the road. As for your comment, let’s keep it that way. Hope the good guys win!

We could definitely lose this game tonight, but after seeing us beat TCU on their court I think our guys are locked in and focused. I feel like guys know their roles and overall their play has elevated just in time for the Big12 season to get going.

Cyclones by 100.
We could lose it. Tech will be pretty desperate for a W tonight.

That said, in watching Tech this year, they're clearly not the same team from last season. And I think their problems are largely due to erratic guard play.

I think that continues tonight, we force them into a ton of turnovers and get the win to start 4-0.

It's a big game I'm just trusting TJ will have the guys ready to go and I'm going to show up and cheer them on. GO CLONES!!!

This is an opportunity for a let-down game, but I've seen enough of TJ that I just don't see him allowing that to happen. I think ISU moves to 4-0 in conference after tonight.
Crowd will be much softer than the sellout Saturday home game vs Baylor on New Years Eve. The number of unsold seats from ISU despite $6 price points, the number of listings on the secondary market and here show a swath of season ticket holders will be absent, and the students are not back yet.

Let’s hope Cyclones aren’t thinking about TCU or KU
