****Official Class Of 2024 Recruiting Thread****

Here’s a new name Dwayne Pierce. Sounds like serious target from his comments on ISU.

“Coach Schmidt and I talk a lot and he talks about how they’re the only basketball team out there so the fans treat them very well and the support is very big.””

Lol. Love it

Was just going to post that comment. It may ruffle a few feathers

I think the staff is always going to plan on grabbing a transfer or two in the portal. Turnover is part of the game now. I think it's much safer to try to grab an immediate need in the transfer portal rather than overload on freshman.

Yep, 1-2 guards a class and 1-2 forwards. The rest should be transfers. It's a great recipe for long term success as the freshman lay the foundation for the present and future. The transfers fix immediate needs and hit at a much higher rate.

Are we still recruiting Nick Janowski after the Nojus commitment? I know the staff is recruiting Isaac Asuma for PG. Appears to be a log jam of youth in the backcourt forming.
We could use a logjam in the backcourt IMO. These past 2 years have been the exact opposite lol

I'd counter that with QUALITY > quantity

Give me one Monte Morris and one Matt Thomas over a 4-5 Gabe Kalscheur types
Yeah clearly agree with that lol. We have had okay quality and minimal quantity, so just having more quantity would at least be a step up.

In an era of NIL & the transfer portal where other teams can tamper, logjams are probably the least of our concerns. Last year no one thought Lipsey would probably see more than a few minutes a game at most (Hunter, A.J. Green, Williams). Two years is a long way out and even longer in this new landscape of college basketball. If we bring in 3 guards in 2024 & 1 or 2 work out after a couple of years of growth & maturity, avoid injury or even stay around, we are blessed.

Interesting player in Asuma he definitely looks like a big 12 player from highlights.
I am wondering if he’s going to jump in the rankings? He seems to be getting a lot of offers that have been rolling in over the last few months, including many P6.

This goes more towards 2023 recruiting/next season (I know, bash me now to go to appropriate thread) but we have Biliew, Micolivic, Fish, Hamilton as the four coming in, correct? None of those are point guards. So won't we have to hit the portal for a pg to spell Lipsey since Holmes will be done?? I realize we have Jeremiah returning hopefully, but wouldn't want to guarantee that injury wouldn't effect his play. This year's scenario proves how important you have depth at that position. Need another reliable 'pg type' to spell Lipsey.
