Updated central Iowa estimates and timing?
Well on this date 3 years ago I was at the park with my kid wearing a hoodie in the sun. Iowa weather at least gives us something to talk aboutOn this date 14 years ago the almost exact type of storm blew into Iowa.
What made it probably worse than the upcoming storm was there was already a good snow cover over much of the state, so even though the storm itself only produced 2-4 inches........the 50mph winds had a lot more material to work with.
Also had the 30-40 below wind chill.
Bowchicawowow..KCCI still stuck on 6-9 inches for metro area.
AccuWeather at 4 to 8 inches now. Seems like @wxman1 had it pegged.

I want no part of @wxman1's pegging.
I don’t trust that outfit at all.
I'd guess 4"-6" for most of the state with E/NE IA more likely to be closer to 6"-8". Some lower, some higher. But travel will suck if it's 1" or 10" until probably Saturday.
Surprised they didn’t just mail it in and blanket the state with a 1-8 graphic. Expect an apocalyptic, breaking weather segment during this thing where they have 3 people fumbling with their words for a good hour.kcci had 3-6 for the whole state this morning
tells me they dont really know so lets just blanket the state and say 3-6 and that'll be good!
As the wind picks up it will be incredibly hard if not impossible to get accurate measurements.kcci had 3-6 for the whole state this morning

I agree with you except I will attest that NC has the largest with 6-8".Changing my guess to 2"-5" for most of the state with the highest amounts in NE IA at 5"-6"+.
