49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

Really interested to see how the Niners handle these last 3 games and the Purdy situation with his injury. I assume the want the 2 seed, I assume they want a healthy Purdy, I assume the want Purdy to get more experience, I assume they want to keep a confident Purdy. Playing him risks injury, risks a blow to confidence, sitting him could also risk a blow to confidence / experience. Maybe I am overthinking it.

The safest bet I suppose is to just wait until the Vikings implode.
Anything can happen anytime in a game, they have to play him.

Told my wife multiple times Sherm seemed drunk in postgame. I haven't seen enough of Bosa, but he seemed high on pain killers after the game, ala Rodgers "muh knee".

Really loose postgame, but it was fun
Tony Gonzalez also seemed to have trouble getting a word in. Wouldn’t mind listening more to him. Never could stand Sherman so the whole telecast was too much of him for me.

Has to be bizarre for Brock, going from Soener, Allen, and Kolar to Kittle. I think their personalities were more in line with Brock.

Brock is also very religious. Will see in time if the talking heads try to tune him out like they did Warner because of that.

No kidding. So what if the 49ers changed his mechanics and throwing motion? Honestly that’s not a big thing. Buffalo did the same with Josh Allen. Besides the NFL is a very different game. What a QB is asked to do in college may not translate to the NFL. His mechanics served him well in college, but it was the leadership skills and football smarts that he really developed that are serving him well now. Mechanics can be fixed if someone is coachable.

Georges and Monte changed their shooting motion. I fail to see how it mitigates their nba or college success.

Brock learned to run for his life at ISU and that has served him well in the first three games with all of the blitzes they have thrown at him. It will be interesting going forward to see if teams back off a bit and just hope for mistakes in the throwing game. So far Purdy has handled most everything pretty well. He wasn't quite as sharp last night as he was in the first 2 games, but a lot of the drives were disrupted by penalties. He should be used to that from ISU also.

Good point. His worst plays and riskiest throws have been on plays where coverage is great rather than plays where they pressure him.

I think the Niners is the best situation for Brock, or most QBs for that matter. It’s going to be a QB competition next season between Lance and Brock. Lance not played much football. He’s a huge unknown.

The wrench in all of it would be if Brady decides he wants to wrap up his career in SF.
SF doesn't need Brady, or whatever contract he would require.

I know it's been said, but the 49ers are the best fit for him right now. Great oline, offensive weapons all over the place, and the best D in the league. All great things to make a young QB or any QB successful.

Purdy is right where every rookie QB should be in the NFL. You almost feel bad for all those high 1st round QB picks who go what are essentially garbage teams. They spend their introductory years running for their lives and dealing with the expectations of being the "savior" of their team.

Purdy, on the other hand, as long as he doesn't absolutely implode, only has one direction to go, up. Nobody is truly expecting anything from him.

Unfortunately no unless he gets traded. Trey Lance is there with a decent contract so I would guess he gets the nod first.
Trey is still on his rookie contract. I fully expect there will be a QB competition in camp, and the 9ers will happily start either with the other as their backup. They can let Jimmy walk and not need to worry about giving him a high dollar extension.

Id let charissa thompson do that to me.

fwiw you can google charissa thompson and get some nsfw results

I think the change in Brock's mechanics is overrated. I believe the most important "fix" the 49ers made for Brock was giving him an excellent offensive line. It's amazing what a QB can do with a consistent running game and pass protection.
You said it. That play action completion late in the game to their other tight end last night was a thing of beauty.
