49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

Assuming Purdy keeps playing like this and plays well in the playoffs/maybe even wins a game/at least isn't the reason they lose one, I don't see SF trading him for anybody less than Mahomes or Allen. A young quarterback at high productivity costing you peanuts on a rookie contract is the most valuable asset in the entire sport. No way they're trading that asset for near- or completely-washed up quarterbacks like Rodgers or Brady who only give an incremental improvement in productivity (if they give any at all) who would require you to gut your roster by trading draft capital to acquire them or cutting veterans from the rest of your offense and defense to fit their signing under the cap. SF is going to roll with Purdy. A productive/free young guy is the obvious choice.

Okay, this is what I'd like to see. Brock keeps this thing rolling. 49ners decide too much is invested in Lance to not run with him. The Packers say, Rodgers, you are nasty expensive and we are tired of you. They trade Rodgers, use the freed up cash to bring in a couple solid receivers or TEs and trade for Brock. Love is not even as polished as Brock right now and he's in his third for fourth year. I know its wishful thinking, but I would enjoy it.
At this point, early in his career, I'd rather see him as a backup on a loaded team over the starter on a team with all kinds of holes. The Packers might not fit the latter if they did a great job using that money to surround him with weapons, but right now, they look pretty rough.

I know it's been said, but the 49ers are the best fit for him right now. Great oline, offensive weapons all over the place, and the best D in the league. All great things to make a young QB or any QB successful.

I think the change in Brock's mechanics is overrated. I believe the most important "fix" the 49ers made for Brock was giving him an excellent offensive line. It's amazing what a QB can do with a consistent running game and pass protection.
Brock learned to run for his life at ISU and that has served him well in the first three games with all of the blitzes they have thrown at him. It will be interesting going forward to see if teams back off a bit and just hope for mistakes in the throwing game. So far Purdy has handled most everything pretty well. He wasn't quite as sharp last night as he was in the first 2 games, but a lot of the drives were disrupted by penalties. He should be used to that from ISU also.

Very true, playing behind a shaky o-line in the NFL is a certain path to a short career as a QB.
