49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

LOL Hints of Herd acting like he knew it the whole time.

My favorite "Herd" moment is when he spent a whole season saying Big 12 football sucked. Texas won national championship. Conference went 5-1 in bowls, 6-0 vs spread.

Cowherd is probably the most vapid commentary in all of media which is saying a lot considering how vapid entertainment industry commetary (stuff like TMZ) and political talk are. He offers less of value than crap like TMZ.

These talking head shows are so much like the spoof talking head show from season 4 of Eastbound and Down on HBO.

Great comp. Totally agree.

And then you have the grand daddy of them all:

I mean did he? Hutchinson for 2 years Butler for 1 and not at the same time. Not exactly a loaded WR room. Kolar was obviously great too, but not a WR.

He actually was one of the only QBs in recent college football history who had a running back of CMC's level.

I saw this discussion in a youtube comment thread:
- Do you all realize his running back is also named Brock?
- No his running back was named Breece, plays for Jets.
- No there is another running back who is named Brock so Brock is throwing to Brock.

Another one with a lot of haters last week was:
- Looks like he sucks and #8 is a beast
- #8 actually is good, Biletnikoff finalist
- Who cares about Purdy, let's draft #8
- His arm sucks, #8 is making all the plays

It's like random American NFL Tshirt fan is learning about ISU football in a high intensity one week course.

He's making the comparison to the blue bloods that are full of 5-star, high draft picks across all positions.
He could’ve made that point without denigrating Iowa State. “Purdy had excellent receivers like Kolar, Allen, Hutchinson and Butler, but the roster wasn’t loaded with five stars like in Alabama.“

I refused to retract my dislike for his statement!

Saying he didn't have an elite offensive line is way more informed than that his offense didn't have skill position players or receivers.

He had the best running back in the nation for two years. Elite tight ends (blocking and receiving), and an elite WR. He didn't have a lot of depth at WR but that's really the only critique other than the obvious offensive line.

They can have a dirt cheap QB room with Purdy and Lance, then build/maintain a great roster around them. Assuming Lance is good to go I’m guessing they will try to see what they have in him early, feeling good about Brock if needed. Now if Brock tears it up the rest of the way, then that would change things.
Both contracts for Purdy and Lance end after the 2024 season, but the 49ers have at least option year on the Lance deal. For the next two seasons between Lance and Purdy, their contracts are going to cost the 49ers, less than $25 million between the two of them. With most of the that going to Lance.

If Purdy ends up finishing the season playing at a high level like he is now, its easy to see them letting Jimmy G. walk, and then using the next two seasons to see which of Purdy or Lance is the QB of the future. $25 million for a QB room is nothing to NFL teams.
