49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

I actually thought about it in fantasy because Lamar is out, but he has a brutal matchup for fantasy purposes.

I'm in a keeper league. My team is in shambles with injury. I have a very, very outside shot at the playoffs, so I'm really playing for draft position next year and grabbing potential stashes. I had stafford and michael thomas and several other guys go down for the season, and every week I've had multiple people leave games with injury.

Superflex league and my two QBs are Stafford and Murray. Go check their last 4-5 weeks injury reports. I was forced to grab ******* Wolford and start him. WOLFORD.

Also, TB might be without its two starting safeties, so there's a chance.

Yeah, that makes sense in a keeper league then.

I'm just worried about the expected point totals for that game. You have Brady who's been really shaky going against the best defense in the league, then a rookie making his first start against a solid defense.

I grabbed Huntley who is Lamar's backup, has some high rushing upside, and has a much easier matchup.

I grabbed Purdy because I'm a homer. Murray is active so he's in my QB slot. I could play Pickens in my superflex, but he's not been reliable. I really just don't have too many better options in my superflex this week.

I also have Lazard, and tried to get Breece. Had no chance at Montgomery (was already kept by another player).

I thought Breece was out for the year?

I wonder if there’s any rushing upside to Purdy. He had some nice rushing plays in college. One or two good running plays would give him a good day in fantasy. I doubt the Bucs are game planning for it, so he could catch them off guard.

Just listened to Saturday morning national sox sports radio show hosted by Anthony Gargano. They were talking Purdy and while co-host had great things to say about Purdy Gargano was just bashing him saying he's got no arm, blah blah blah. Spoken like a national hack who only action watching Purdy was last Sunday. Guess he should check the deep balls to Butler at ISU.

Whatever, that's just the talking heads trying to generate buzz. Purdy has an amazing opportunity to extend his NFL career tomorrow and he knows it. Many other great college QBs before him never got the opportunity that Purdy will get tomorrow and for the rest of the season. Funny enough the QB on the other side of the field was in a very similar situation 20 some years ago and he's had a nice career.

It's a little alarming how much media spotlight can be generated by one backup qb winning one game. Some of it is because of being the last pick and the attention that was generated for that at that time. But it is pretty jarring just how much focus was put on BP this week. If anyone is prepared to handle it, it's Purdy though.

That last sentence is what is so awesome. And we are the only ones that know that compared to the rest of the country who just found out who in the hell he is.

The so-called experts on football are going to have to find some new things to criticize about Purdy. This is a very nice piece about what Purdy has done, training wise, between his last game at ISU and the draft. He's had some high-tech training from the "QB Collective" to rebuild his throwing motion. Added 5 mph to his top ball speed, etc. Purdy is an aggressive learner that you can never count out.

It's great for him and I hope he knocks it out of the park but the Super Bowl talk etc. I saw out there is bonkers.
