What’s going at Casey’s?

You hope they have guys with sharp pencils figuring all that out? LOL. They're not expanding like crazy by not knowing what works.
I mean, look at K&G's new HQ downtown Des Moines, that thing had to cost a fortune. Convenience stores have to be bringing in all sorts of cash.
Iirc the K&G fam bought an Italian soccer club.

Winter is here which means no more Casey’s for me.
Nothing worse than trying to pump gas in the freezing cold and having to put in my zip code, then ask if I’m a hyvee fuel saver, then do I want my receipt all while freezing my … off

You forgot the message, ‘please go inside for receipt’ afterwards.

Ha…. All you commoners filling up your tanks of gas. ;)

I stopped at a gas station in Kiester, MN once. I managed to get a quarter gallon out of one pump and like 3/4 out of another before giving up. Apparently the pumps were older and when it got cold they slowed down hard. A Jordanian immigrant family had taken it over. They had like two cases of pop in the cooler, looked like they cooked a tombstone pizza and put it in the warmer but had a huge supply of anything tobacco and more porn mags and movies than I ever imagined existed.

A couple months later, it was permanently closed. Apparently the locals preferred fuel over porn.
Oh man, my sister spent a few years working in Elmore out of college. Lived there, Kiester and Frost. Lived in an old school that had apartments in it in one of those towns. I feel like there was a pretty good bar to population ratio in those towns.

Agree. I broke 26,000 before I started cashing in. Have to use the cash in 30 days or you lose it though so gotta do like $10 at a time.

Just looked up my account and only have like 1,000 and I had a ton more than that. Just sent them a message about it.

Nearly every closed school becomes apartments in the end.

I'm from about an hour east of there (on the Iowa side) and I've always chuckled at the name of that town.

One time driving through Elmore, I drove down Mondale avenue to see if they had his birthplace as a “historic” site but didn’t see anything. Figured it was on the street named after him so maybe it wasn’t.

Their pizza is horrible lately. We got it one Sunday night and it was terrible. Chalked it up to the end of weekend crew. Tried it again a month or so later on a Friday night and it was the same garbage.

We went to the zoo in Omaha but stayed in CB. Ordered a pizza for the hotel room and saw a Casey's so gave them a shot. They completely left off the sauce. Like how???

I think the Kwik Stars are nice, but I wonder how they're able to pay their overhead. The places are huge, and the inventory has to be significantly more than Casey's. If they have more employees at higher wages, that's more expense. I hope they have guys with sharp pencils figuring all that out. I don't have any complaints about our local Casey's other than their card readers weren't working at the pumps for a while.
Other than gas, margins at a convenience store are HUGE.

If you look up articles about Kwik Star/Trip you'll find out that they make all their store band items inhouse. From dairy products to sandwiches. When they bought out PDQ, the HQ was in the same city or near by and they turned it into a health clinic for their employees. Ever see how many people are working at a Kwik Star during the day? Seems like 2/3 upfront, a manager, and 3/4 kitchen people. Casey's you get like 4 tops.

so i didn't get a chance to read the whole thread, but what the hell is wrong with their credit card readers at the pumps? it's been an issue for weeks now....

Are you waving it at the pump also like the other person. It has a reader that you have to slide it into.
