I have an Amazon fire tv that's three years old is having issues with the remote not working on the TV as it will randomly freeze up and quit working. The remote was reset and the only way the both work tv and remote that is. Is we have to unplug it. Batteries are good on the remote as well. Any clue what we can do to get it fully functional again? We hooked up a Roku right now so we're getting by in the meantime.

Amazon has an app you can download that turns your phone into a remote.

Maybe not a permanent solution. But we have had remotes get lost for days/weeks and used that until they turn up. Kids and remotes = always lost.

Had this same thing many times. One thing the smart phone can not replace is a good old physical remote control.

How old is your Firestick? We were having tons of problems until we got a newer version. Works pretty well now.

Looks like we will try out buying a new remote. Tried out a cell phone as a remote and it worked well, no issues. Thinking the remote we had finally hawired after our oldest toddler chewed on it last year. Crazy it worked some times but not always.

Body parts do that when you get older.

Have you considered just keeping it as a Roku tv?
