Cy-Hawk extended through 2027

JFC... Can we let this game die already and start scheduling more interesting P5 opponents?
I tend to agree with you.

Maybe it's because I want to see something "new" but I couldn't care less if we played Iowa.

I figured with all the realignment happening that after 2025 we wouldn't play them.

Massive revenue and Iowa media hard on. Its the National Enquire at the grocery checkout. You don't want to look, but you do anyway, then regret you did.

I don't mind playing Iowa but would prefer it to maybe be every other year. I'd like to sprinkle in some variety of Arky, Minny, etc.
Yup-

I wouldn't mind those types of games. A place that both fan bases could travel to/from

I think both fanbases don't want it to die, but they don't want it every year. I think both fanbases would be good with a two on and two off type of deal.
Make it every other year we play and I’m in.

The "we're too cool for this/Iowa is boring/what do we get out of this" crowd can get bent.

College sports, especially football, is about rivalries built over generations. So many great ones are gone now, so the ones we still have need to be protected at all costs.

Extend this game to 2100.

A big reason for me personally to space it out more, is that I like going to away games and seeing other venues.

I don't love the play every other year type of game. What rivalry game isn't played on annual basis? It's what makes it a rivalry. And yes, I know that the Bedlam game is in jeopardy, but that is for reasons. We don't have reasons to end the annual Cy-Hawk game.

Ask JP or Gary Barta what different non-conference game will bring in more revenue and media attention to the programs than the CyHawk; there's your answer on when it will end.
Alabama, Clemson, Oregon, Georgia, USC, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, etc at Jack Trice would bring more revenue and media attention. Or do you think the way the Cy-Hawk has been played the past 3-4 seasons (even as far as being called "El Assico") is what someone would call good media attention?

Lol - which one of those teams are coming to Ames Iowa?

A bunch of media attention to watch us get rawdogged during our regular September slump by Alabama doesn't sound that inviting.
