First off, I'm putting this in the MBB forum, because this is where these people keep showing their faces.

The last 2 days have seemed to really bring out some special ISU fans. Calling for the firing of Greg and JP, wondering if AHS could beat ISU, and calling Lucca a bust... This brings me to my point.

There are extremists in everything. I returned from Iraq last year, where my job was to find roadside bombs planted by muslim extremist. I know better to judge all muslims by their actions, most muslims are very hospitable, very good people. There are christian extremist as well, Iowa has seen them on a few occasions when our troops have paid the ultimate price. A group of "Christians" showed up at their funerals to make a scene. Then of course we have the squawkeye fans that come post on a cyclone message board. :jimlad: The last two days have brought out a few other extremists here (Cyclone42 and Oldschoolcyclone come to mind) I love ISU and this is a great forum of what are considered fanatics, which is pretty close to extremism. Fortunately, 99% of us here are what I would consider a great extreme, we love Iowa State and the Cyclones enough that we spend a few minutes to in some cases hours a day here. I've grown up an ISU fan, I literally had an ISU baby bottle, and I truly appreciate all of you great fans.

This brings me to my point. How do we handle these extremists? I understand negative posts, I've been pretty disappointed a few times this year. But I don't post when I am. If I were to, rather than being an extremist, I prefer constructive criticism (what can be done to fix this?) But some peoples way of fixing this is to fire the coach, AD, and heck why not the President too? :jimlad::jimlad: For all of us reasonable fans, lets just ignore their posts, and let them fall off the main page, rather than rediculing them for 8 hours and having their silly post stay on the front page. If they put together a rather reasonable arguement, then by all means discuss.

Anyways, those are my thoughts, go ahead and rip away. I don't post much, but all the extreme negativity was really getting to me. To all you great fans that are reasonable. Thanks.

You have to take the good with the bad. These guys opinions of there team actually count. Because they get upset does not mean that they are bad fans and people should not say stuff back like "we don't need fans like you". First off when did you become the spokesman for saying who ISU needs as it's fans.

So what if they have a passion and are pissed off right now. They should be pissed off right now. The Lucca is a bust thread was pretty dumb. However when someone yells Fire Gmac I get it.

His record is way worse than our previous coach who had the same amount of time. So why won't he be fired. It was his fault for clearing the cupboard when he got here. So what is the excuse for keeping him. I think we should give him one more year but Jamie said when he hired him that a year like Waynes last year would never happen again. Well 3 years since Gmac took the job it has happened.

Well, the only reason they're showing their faces here is because it's basketball season. Turn back the clock to football, and it was just the same.

Fortunately, one good thing that they're doing is showing some of the people who like to "vent" here after losses that some opinions can be totally ridiculous.

Probably. Maybe. Hopefully.

I agree with you, and I by no means am saying we don't want them as fans. I'm simply saying lets have reasonable discussion.

I agree as well, I've thought we should fire Greg on a few occassions. I've told my gf on more than a few occassions I don't think he's a good coach. But once I'm reasonable again, I realize we're young and think we have a bright future. And I welcome reasonable discussion on why he should be fired. But calling fans here all band geeks and drunk is dumb and doesn't accomplish anything and makes people less likely to take you seriously when you do have a really good point.

Good post...exactly why I try and stay away from this board for 24-48 hours after a game...win or lose.

If no one responds to their posts, them and their threads go away.

But, people can't stop responding, so the extremists live on, and probably always will.

WHAT??

Do you really think that? Mac walks in and says Curtis and Will.. and and and.... you are out of here? If anything there could be a bit of strike back from the former staff to torpedo things here.

The Morgan staff upset me several times with their allowance of primadonna classless acts by the few star jerks. I am thankful we are where we are compared with where we were likely going.
My opinion

Nobody was going to stay after Morgan got fired, no matter who the coach was...Clark stayed because of his girlfriend.

No, I don't have any proof.

If he would have recruited them harder. He also told Westbrook who is now tearing it up for Minnesota to take a hike. It would be nice to have a junior in the program who is a guard. That would be nice.

I think everyone should get a "Patriot Missile" to use for CF Security. When someone posts hostile stuff. A true CFer can deploy their Patriot Missile and blow the thread to smithereens. Patriot Missiles would be earned (or purchased for 1M credits, for example). Maybe they could be used at most once per month or something like that. How about it?

I was at the gym today and espn was advertising their big monday game - A&M at KU. Do you remember when we mattered in Bball? I'm not blaming anyone - but let's admit that we use to matter in bball and its sad that we no longer do.

I'll take the McD error so far over the Morgan era any day.

The team much better represents the university as scholars and athletes.

They are getting closer to getting over the hump.

the way i see it just keep a level head...its never as good as it seems (after the Nebraska game, we are an NCAA/NIT team), or as bad as it seems (Mac should be fired, we are not going to win another conf. game)

I agree, and I will admit I am not a McD lover or hater, but the Morgan era didnt just end because of his record...

Never realized there were huge problems under Morgan like people getting thrown off the team for multiple arrests or getting in trouble drinking under age...

Those that complain about Stinson ******** at refs obviously didn't watch the Mizzu game too closely the other day.

CYKYBUT that's a great idea! I love it! and I have 1M credits sitting here, do I speak to you for my own personal Patriot Missle?
Sorry. I am not in the braintrust of this site. I know there have been times I would have used it myself.

That's the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Apparently you prefer losing to winning. We had way more success in Morgan's 3 years than we have had in Gmac's. These are facts.

Morgan's team's represented the University just as well as Gmacs, both coaches have had their teams keep their noses clean and out of trouble for the most part. Though I much preferred Floyd and LE's teams, even if they had some guys who got into trouble.

And it was a helluva lot funner watching Stinson, Blalock, Clark, Homan and Staple than Gmac's teams have been to watch. Much, much more enjoyable style of basketball. Scoring in the 70s to 80's and winning at a higher rate compared to scoring in the 40s to 50s and losing more games? Please, that isn't even a question.
