What's an embarrassing moment in Iowa State history, sports or otherwise, that we try to suppress?

And I'm thinking more in terms of "that's a really bad look for the university" bad, not necessarily bad losses (UAB)

Examples from other places: Pierre Pierce at Iowa, Baylor and Penn States scandals, USC rowing.

What most comes to mind for me is the Veishea riots. Any others?

The Hoks have a LOT of Skeletons.... but the Pierce was a good start.

Eustachy scandal was probably most embarrassing I can remember and would have been even worse now with social media and smart phones that would have spread that story quickly. The loss to Hampton much lime the UAB loss was embarrassing.

I rather hear about skeletons in the hawks many, many closets and probably in all their homes......

Dan McCartney hire.

I will never understand this dumb take. I will outright acknowledge McCarney didn’t win nearly as much as he should have, mostly because anytime he got a lead he would get conservative to protect it instead of crushing the opponent’s throat, and by the end of 2006 it was past time to move on from him. But calling him embarrassing is one of the worst takes there is. This current era of Cyclone football we’re enjoying doesn’t exist without McCarney laying the foundation for it.
