EA Sports NCAA College FB coming back Summer '24

Confirmed to be on the Madden engine, but supposedly not a reskin.

The game is built on the Madden engine

EA Sports College Football is built on the Madden engine but fans should expect tweaks to game play, much like previous iterations of the NCAA Football franchise in the 2000s and 2010s.

Not sure if that means previous iterations of the college game were built on the Madden engine? There's a huge difference in gameplay, college game has always been way smoother and better. If this plays like Madden that'll be a huge letdown.

The NCAA game has always been by EA and the gameplay was always way smoother and better than Madden IMO.
The PS2 and older systems I agree. Felt like it got more Maddenish as the series went on.

Gotta imagine there will be holdouts initially. But I hope sports talk roasts them for it. Student athletes fought hard to get these types of perks, any player that tries to holdout to get more than everyone else should be called out. And, I'd also be just fine with EA putting replacement players with lower ratings out of spite.

Oh yeah. If I were holding out they should make a character with the first name Brice that is like 5'7" 150 and fumbles every time he touches the ball.

I never played much Madden, but did very occasionally. I thought even the 14 game on PS3 was much better gameplay.
They got too offensively friendly imo. It was hard to generate a pass rush, the quarterbacks all seemed faster than the front 7 when you got in and quarterback could throw dimes on a full sprint. I probably would of beat you something like 56 to 42 on the as most recent ones but nobody wants 1 stop to determine the game.

I didn't do much of the dynasties or other game modes though whereas I think you said you did. I was mostly playing friends or online when they made it.

EA's track record over the last 10 years has been shockingly bad even by modern gaming standards. i have 0 expectations for this to be good.

new Battlefield, Madden, Sim Cities are unplayable

I played Battlefield on the free weekend and I enjoyed it. My son plays Madden pretty exclusively and honestly I think it's pretty good. But I haven't played these games probably since 2012 or so. When you take like 10 years off from gaming everything seems pretty dang amazing to be honest.

And probably will just have a micro transaction focus like Madden & 2k. Games have steadily got worse since that bs got implemented

I've kept up my gaming through the years. I play Madden, third-person adventures, and RPGs.

Graphically, I would agree 10 years has seen a pretty significant improvement. But tbh, the part that bothers me with games now is that by and large they are extremely easy. Save points every 60 seconds, etc. 20-25 years ago, beating the game felt like a real accomplishment. Now, whether I beat a game or not is just a function whether I care to play long enough before I get bored.

I’ve played NCAA 14 on PS3 more than any other game in my life, and Madden gameplay is far superior in terms of being realistic. NCAA 14 it is damn near impossible to get stops if the offense knows what they’re doing.

Weird. I disagree entirely on gameplay. Madden just seems way more choppy, NCAA way more fluid. I can coach you up on how to play good D if you want... ;jimlad

I probably don’t even disagree on fluid/choppy but I like that a running QB is a nice advantage in madden and not an absolute cheat code in NCAA. I also just think the motions are way more realistic on madden. Don’t get me wrong though, I’ll be getting NCAA no matter how gameplay is with the dynasty mode

NCAA has had issues for sure. It's almost impossible to run any kind of play action because it takes so long to develop and the D is on top of the QB almost every time. And I agree if you have a fast QB and roll him out it can be next to impossible to stop.

They need to get back to PS2 gameplay imo with the better graphics. Defense was much better.

In ‘14 I thought play action was perfect. Earlier versions had that issue though.

For the most part I thought 14 has perfected gameplay. I still love and play that game. It will be hard to top that. But most important is dynasty mode, if they nail that the new game will be great.

I gotta disagree. NCAA was far better. I do like Madden’s GM stuff but recruiting is so much more fun for me. Madden is so easy now I dont even like playing it anymore.

Madden gameplay has been trash for the past decade. They just keep putting out the same game every year with player attribute adjustments. I don’t know if any franchise has phoned it in and got rich off of name only more than Madden. Maybe The Sims? Both not surprisingly EA games.

Anyway, if this is just a college version of madden, it’s gonna be a big letdown.
