Can someone explain to me the key difference between Tre Mitchell and Tre King's situations? It reads here like Mitchell playing this year at WVU after a second transfer in as many years is a done deal while King has to continue to sit out fall semester. Did Mitchell graduate?

I don't understand ranking OU above ISU because of the Groves brothers. Tanner, yes. Jacob, no. Hill should be mentioned above Jacob. Jacob is just a meh bench player.

Per a quick Google, Mitchell will need a waiver to play this year. I didn’t see anything about whether one is expected or not.

Yeah all I could find was either needing a waiver or graduating but that was from when he first announced landing at WVU.

I guess we shouldn't assume this was a shot at JM since this applies very neatly to you.

Not the most Kool-Aidy of power rankings.
Who is the "go to" guy for ISU next year? I don't think there is one on the roster, and that will be the biggest weakness. It will have to be by committee, but you always need that guy to get a bucket when the other team is on an 8-0 run, for example.

More than likely one of the new guys? I mean, there is some pretty good talent coming in. Maybe Kalchur becomes consistant? I'm really not that worried. Somebody will step up.

That conference is going to be a ******* ***** outside of Kansas State.

I wonder if the Willies go 0-18 (0-19 if you count KC) this season.

There was no true go to guy on the 2012-13 team either. Georges was only a freshman, Ejim was good but he took his game to another level as a senior, McGee was a great shooter, and Clyburn, Lucuis and Babb were good but not elite go to guys. That team won by having great team chemistry and being elite together on offense. In fairness the Big 12 wasn't as tough then as it is now though.

Next year's team will not be great on offense but should be elite on defense. If they can gel together I see it being like that 2012-13 team where there isn't one or two big stars, except instead of offense being their strength it will be the defense. A much tougher Big 12 may make it harder to make the tournament, but they should be in contention for a bid.

I don't see one yet. I'm not saying we don't have one. I just don't know at this moment. My guess is that the offense is a little uglier yet this year.

I've seen several non-ISU based rankings that have us as 9th - including the analytics (lineup projection from Torvik)

But I don't get the OU/OSU/WVU hype. Maybe they'll make a leap, but I think we have a much better incoming class, between freshmen and transfers, than any of them.

I'm just hoping something will "unlock" our offense. Last year, I kept thinking that if we had someone, anyone, who could do anything at the high post besides hand off, we would have a much smoother offense.
