Official Monday blizzard thread

Blizzard-like conditions really aren't supposed to start until 6 pm anyway. Right now it's just all snow.

Really coming down out here in Des Moines, we probably already have about 2 inches from this storm, and it just started this morning.

This routine is getting old...thought last winter was abnormal...is this going to be a yearly thing now? We are lucky that we have experienced melting already this year or we would be in trouble this spring...but we still might be anyway!

suprised schools in DSM are still in.

They will be closing soon. The schools in North Central Iowa that did open up will be closing in the next hour or so.

Belmond-Klemme never opened; supposedly Wright Co. pulled their plows off the roads around 7:30 am.

rural schools across the north have closed, but in the metro, i'd be quite upset if the metro schools closed early, it's not that bad in town and the blizzard warning doesn't kick in until tonight.

This global warming is really starting to get under my skin.

This crap needs to stop NOW. Everytime they make any progress on my house a storm hits and the builders go home. Arrghh! :arghh:

I just read were La Nina (the cooling of the Pacific ocean) has reformed, last year's harsh winter was blamed on La Nina.

I have to be a work at 7pm in Ames tonight, so I would'nt mind staying home. Especially since our Explorer took it's last crap on us this weekend!!!

Does anybody else picture La Nina as a hot Latino chick? I like to picture her as Selma Hayek.

I heard a lot of people say last winter that bad winters come in threes, and thus since last winter was the second strong winter in a row, that this winter would be bad as well. Obviously it's purely anectdotal, but it seems to be holding true. Hopefully next winter is a relief.

I live and teach in Wyoming. We got probably 5 inches just between 11:00 PM last night and 6:30 AM this morning. We rarely ever have a now day. I think we have had 1 maybe 2 in the 4 years I have been here, and that was when it snowed almost a foot over night.
