Tyrese Hunter Entering the Transfer Portal - NIL Speculation

You're OK with this??? Typical, loser mentality.
Man, next year is going to be a blast without a point guard. I hope he ends up like Yesufu, bench warmer.
He can, like any other player do what he wants.
It sucks, sure but that's the system right now.
I imagine this will be a really common now and the NCAA will have to change the transfer rules.

But you're done with basketball now so you shouldn't care.

Both of his parents died when he was a kid and he had a rough go. You need to re-evaluate your life. Oh no a 19 year old kid made a smart decision for himself! Better blow up a message board and belittle his decision! Totally normal behavior.

With the money players able to bring in, NCAA should make a certain percent go towards your schooling, or if you are to bring in more than what the athlete's tuition cost, then the athlete shouldn't be on a full scholarship and use that NIL to cover tuition. It has to be regulated somehow by the NCAA. Maybe add a cap to it? I dunno, I am just thinking on how this is starting to ruin college sports.

Truth is this: as a player of a team I root for he was someone I hoped would do great things, have an amazing career during and after college basketball...now I honestly have zero interest in what happens after this for him. Harsh to some maybe but oh well.

Could have gone down as a legend and written in the history books here now with a fat stack of cash just be another name for a blue blood

On a side note, I really think Tyrese's announcement is going to be one of the most followed or publicized transfers. While the bb gurus have said long line for this one before....they are labeling it HUGE HUGE portal news. He's not a grad transfer or a kid that wanted to leave a mid-major to prove himself at a higher level. Or is he? Did he think ISU was not 'enough' to get where he wanted to be? (and I'm not referring to $)

Agree. It's not his fault the system has gone from slightly rigged to massively rigged. He is still the same kid he was when he was burying LSU in Milwaukee.

Who among us would turn down a 10x pay rise to change employers?

But the new way of doing business will kill the sport.
Agree. Other than telling Tyrese he needs to consider the "greater good", you can't hold it against him. He's taking advantage of the opportunity available to him and helping him and his family financially.

It just does highlight the sport is changing though. Understanding that some would reconsider their college basketball fandom.

Explain to me how this is going to lead to more concentrated talent on blue blood rosters? There's only so many roster spots. You really think blue bloods are going to get 15-20 elite guys to all want to be on the same team. Zero chance that happens.
I mean, the literal best players in the world think they all need to play together so the kids that idolize them aren't going to be any different.

I've watched Kansas recruit some duds out of HS, duds nearly every program in the nation wanted but duds none the less. Now they can just pay sophomores like Hunter they know are locks to be all conference players rather than taking risks on unproven high school players. Oh and he's short so he's likely to be a multi year player.

There is absolutely no way this won't hurt the vast majority of teams.

Go ahead protecting your feeble mind with this contrarian nonsense.

And now when they buy a transfer, it's one less big time recruit they are bringing in. There's not a ton of all-conference freshman who aren't likely to go pro, that's a small window of guys you're describing. I know you love freaking out, and this is a great chance to have a terrible take that this will be the end of college basketball, but things really aren't going to be that different. The top schools will still get the most talent. Nothing new there.

The meltdowns in here are a bit much. Does it suck? Yes. But it's not the end of the world. It's literally college basketball. If this is the only thing you have to be outraged about right now, then I envy you.
