Really well done video using Kossuth County as an example. Lots of ISU references since he uses research from the Ag School.

This guy is one of the largest educational YouTubers out there, this video will get a lot of eyes. He has a ton of other really well done videos on different supply chain topics like airports, trains, Formula 1, etc.

Maybe learn how to pronounce the county though.

Also, they are not trucking it from Bancroft to LaCrosse. It will be railed there.

I got to Koe-suth County and quit listening for tonight. It also should be the “number” of people, not the “amount” of people. IMO, not well done if your pronunciation and language choices aren’t correct.

Ka-suth, short a and long u? Dekalb- seed corn and deka(l)b town. That is how we pronounce it in SW Iowa.

Not even on rail from Bancroft, got torn out in the 80’s. So needs to be trucked from either Burt which is season only or hauled to Lakota for ethanol.

From a guy with an Architecture and Comp Sci degree from ISU, I found this fascinating. Especially, now that I live in WV among corn producers exclusively used for making whiskey. Thank you for posting this.

We use to call it Decob instead of Dekalb, seemed to produce better size cobs than grain back in the day.

I'm in the process of Reading "The Omnivore's Dilemma" by Michael Pollan. In short he is trying to follow food from seed to stomach.

First segment is about corn and he spends time with grower in Western Iowa. It has some thoughtful insight on how USDA payment policies are not designed to help farmers but rather make sure there are mountains of cheap corn every fall so the ADMs and Cargills of the world have economical, abundant supply. While it is slightly slanted against large scale ag he does bring up some interesting points.

I used to work in Bancroft at a furniture factory. I doubt it's even there anymore. Bancroft is where I spent a lot time on the weekends. They had a dance hall where they had live bands every weekend. Rock bands, some of them were pretty good. in fact, my sister wound up marrying the guy who owned it, but that didn't last very long. I also used to co-own a cafe in Burt, the second town mentioned in this video.
