They screwed those 5 second calls. Both were around 3 seconds. You get five seconds to pick up the ball and then you get five seconds to inbound the ball. It wasn’t even close.

To see or hear when the ref blows his whistle for the timeout. You can clearly see in the replay that the player is in the air when he called timeout, which is illegal. Go look at the video, make sure that is what happened. Then say it was an illegal timeout and its ISU basketball.
There is an app I believe. Before Jaz shot the free throws, "KSt calls a timeout." "Which they shouldn't have".Which reminds me, are the radio broadcasts available anywhere online? I would LOVE to hear John and Eric cover the last two minutes.

I can accept the ref blowing the whistle early in the mistake, it happens. He pointed to the floor and said he called it then. When the first conference happened it should have been easy to say, hey he did t signal right away. The first ref can say, hey I didn’t see and messed up. So it’s an inadvertent whistle KSU ball. But instead they basically give Kstate a timeout by spending minutes talking about something that should take 10-15 seconds tops. No reason for it to be stretched out that long.I’ll give them general benefit of the doubt for the inadvertent whistle since the ref was granting the timeout when the rules now say you can’t, and wouldn’t expect them to just give ISU the ball, but to not then still charge the timeout is asinine. Admit that the timeout should not have been granted, and take it away from KSU. But no, they let KSU keep the ball, and their final timeout for some time later, and let them huddle and game plan. Just another example of how horrible the game is officiated anymore
The refs were particularly bad in the final 2 minutes of the game.
The Varsity app has the games live, but I have not gone back to see if they archive replays
I hear that apparently the refs acknowledge they messed up
OK, what if you don't have iPhone or want to listen on your computer? Varsity app says it is for iPhone or iPad only.Varsity network app is great for archiving, almost right away and includes all post game. I’ve been in habit of listening to postgame taking my dog for a walk.

But the play was dead either way, so the inadvertent whistle had no effect on the play whatsoever. It was a dead ball the moment the player hit out of bounce. He cannot call a timeout while in the air, so it should have been ISU basketball, then you ask KSU if they want to use their last timeout or not.I’ll give them general benefit of the doubt for the inadvertent whistle since the ref was granting the timeout when the rules now say you can’t, and wouldn’t expect them to just give ISU the ball, but to not then still charge the timeout is asinine. To your point on stalling, weren’t both of these calls made after KSU had made FTs? So the game clock wasn’t running whatsoever. I don’t by that excuse whatsoever. Plus he blew his whistle before 5 seconds so it’s all moot.If anyone wants to read the rules, you can use this link:

The 5 second call rule is on page 76. Mentions the 5 seconds start when the ball in “is at the disposal” of the inbounding player. This does not excuse calling a turnover in less than 5 seconds multiple times in a row. The ball just has to be released within 5 seconds, not touched or possessed inbounds. The ref can start the 5 seconds prior to the player touching the ball if they think there is stalling.
I am sure TJ is emphasizing inbounds situations with the team this week. Refs made some rough calls and decisions. Probably one of the worst final minutes I have seen. We still need to be able to inbound the ball more effectively.
