Iowa Football Recruiting

Black would be a bigger get than Patton IMO. Kasper is not coming to Iowa, my feeling is that he ends up at USC. Iowa doesn't have a problem with getting decent defensive backs but they do with WRs. I'd take Patton hands down because he is a stuf, but if I had to pick, I would take Black. Opposite could be said for ISU. Getting WR talent is not an issue, but solid DBs can be. Both teams could come out happy here.

I have a weird feeling that they have a better chance at Proctor than they do Kasper.

That feeling is common sense. Iowa actually develops OLs, Iowa’s record with WR development under Ferentz is pretty awful. Kasper’s family connections might be able to overcome that, but you can understand his reservations. Especially with the staff that just took over at USC.

It’s been better recently but overall yes it’s been pretty pathetic. Their route trees are pretty terrible for wide receivers. Highly predictable. It’s the hardest position to sell to recruits at Iowa.

Kevin Kasper has been pretty public about letting his son make his own way but I’m sure behind closed doors there’s a little bit of pressure there. It sounds pretty great when you’re a freshman in high school to say I would love to play Iowa someday like when you’re him and then all of a sudden the Blue Bloods start knocking, and he’s like, “wait a minute…”

As much as I would like Iowa to get Kasper, he should go to USC or a similar type offense.

A skill position haul of:

QB: Lainez
RB1: Kaden Feagin
RB2: Darius Taylor
TE: Mac Markway
TE: Zach Ortwerth
WR: Kyler Kasper
WR: Alex Mota
WR: Kai Black

That would be something special.

Kasper would be dumb to go to Iowa. I know his dad was a good player for them, but if he's a big time prospect as a WR, Iowa isn't the place to showcase his skills. And to throw a bone to Iowa fans, Proctor going to Iowa makes perfect sense given their history with linemen.
