What do I do with this information?

Unless something drastic changes, looks like the cold of last year will not be repeated this Febru

I find that a bit humorous. The NWS which is correct maybe what..... 25% of the time, is telling everyone "check their sources" when someone else give a forecast. What "source" do we check when the NWS misses the mark?

What's your criteria for this ridiculous claim?

It used to bug me when local TV weatherpeople would completely miss on a forecast, I mean majorly, and then not even acknowledge that fact the next day.

I don’t mean missing something 7 or 10 days out, either. For instance, there have been a few cases I remember where a big storm is forecast for a few days ahead, and maybe on the 6:00 newscast they’d call for 6-8 inches of snow overnight … and we wake up the next morning to a dusting. I personally think it would be interesting to hear a bit of explanation as to why a forecast was blown, whether the storm moved unexpectedly or a front stalled out somewhere or whatever - but the TV folks usually just ignore it completely and move on to the next forecast (which is admittedly their primary job).

If you ever care to actually look into it, you'd find your reason. On so many snowstorms, they talk about a sharp dropoff depending on the track. We had one this year that turned into that, but 20 miles south got hit really hard. Was a perfectly fine forecast, but people like you would treat it as a complete miss.

Like that forecast. I'm seeing a lot of grass in the neighborhood and I'd like it to stay that way until spring! :D

I normally agree but I wanted a lot of snow this winter to help ease drought conditions (refill my upper pond which is down 1' from normal).

What the forecaster says:
There is the potential for a lot of snow tomorrow! There is some disagreement on the models, so the track of this storm will have a major impact for snow totals in this area. If it shifts to the south we may only see a light dusting

What Joe Blow hears:
Lots of snow tomorrow!

When the storm shifts south and there is only a light dusting Joe Blow declares:
Where's all the damn snow they promised! I wanted to use my new snowblower! ******* meteorologists are clueless!
