First off, I can't believe that we held Aaron Bruce scoreless. I think this is possibly are most fundamentaly sound game of the season. You could actually see all our plays develop as they should. Shot 49% from the field. I like what I saw:

Mike Taylor- Starting to see him slow it down a bit more and make much wiser decisions on when it is time to drive and when it is time to run the Oh-fence (Thanks Majerus). 8 assists tonight and I would say fewer than that turnovers. A positive assist to turnover ratio??? We are talking improvement boys.

Rahshon Clark- Great game helped shut down Bruce and had numerous important rebounds. Bruce has had numerous games in the high teens and low twenties for scoring. Rahshon is that great guy to have to be able to shut down smaller guards on defense.

Corey McIntosh- Thanks buddy. Great night for this kid. Always works his butt off and was deserving of a good game. Had a couple of good drives, played scrappy defense, and didn't hardly turn the ball over at all even though he was being guarded heavily.

Jiri Hubalek- 60% from the field, 19 points and 9 rebounds against a bruiser in Lomers. He just keeps developing. I was hoping he'd get that double double, but looks like he came up just short.

Wesley Johnson- Dunk you very much? Bruce just got put on a poster somewhere. Mr. Double double himself. 14 points, 10 rebounds. What else can I say? This kid just gets it done. Hopefully he puts a little more muscle on next year and then look out Big 12.

Dodie Dunson- Didn't have the greatest game but filled the void when we needed him to and help break that horrible attempt at a press. Missed 2 free throws in a row. Just an off night shooting for him.

And finally my boy Chris Ceasar- I think our team has a new favorite player to root for. This kid won playing time by working his tail off in practice and for being a great defender. I was so happy to see him nail that 3. I for one like giving him playing time.

I'm not all that high about this win. Baylor is not a good team and a lot of things were allowed that good teams physically take away. It was a good performance for confidence, but most teams in the big 12 would take away a lot of the things that Baylor allowed today.

You are entitled to your opinion, as am I, but I think Baylor is a better team than people give them credit for. I know there record isn't the greatest, but I saw them go toe to toe with a very good, ranked, Texas AND Oklahoma State team when they were hitting on all cylinders. They also beat a Texas Tech team that is near the top of the Big 12. Any win in the Big 12 is a big win at this point.

You mean THEIR. You can't start a thread about proper spelling then get away with improper yourself:biggrin9gp: . Just givin ya crap man:rolleyes5cz:

lol that is why I mentioned that I know I have made spelling errors. Good catch by the way. It is duly noted. I guess names just bother me more.

Honestly great win today. Everybody looked pretty good especially as a team. Great to see Wesley get the double-double. I was hoping Jiri would get that rebound at the end of the game to get his. Oh well. This win may be over Baylor but they are a decent team and it is a good confidence booster, especially after losing the last 5 games in a row. GO CYCLONES!

I dont understand why CJ doesnt get Marsdens minutes. He offers nuthin on offense, and noone works harder on D than CJ. But im not the coach. If Marsden gets any minutes next year ill be disappointed/surprised.

This game was only good for one reason: stop the skid. thank god that is over, now maybe we can focus on winning some bigGER games down the stretch. Man, if you told me 5 years ago we'd be extremely happy with a win AT HOME over baylor, I woulda laughed my face off. Funny how things change, but then again I honestly feel next year and 2 years from now, we'll be seeing some W's over the big 12's elite. And who knows? maybe we will find our way back up to being one of them?

A win is a win. Baylor is not one of the best teams in the country, but we are not either......yet.
I think this was a very positive win. We cut down on our turnovers. We seemed to be more in control. We played awesome defense on Bruce.
Let's hope for another win on Tuesday night against Missouri. I will be watching that one on TV. Then on Saturday, I will be in Austin to watch the game in person. Go Cyclones.

Baylor is a team in a similar position as us, by next year they might be among the big 12's elite, out of people who get minutes they only lose Bush , they are going to be a damn good team with the way that Drew recruits. They are a better team than are given credit for, but they are a streaky team, they didn't get Tweety or Bruce going in this game at all, or Dugat, so we won, we played great defense, especially Rahshon and Chris Ceaser, out of all the walk-ons he has played the best in a single game, he seems to be the most in sync with the team, but Currie and Jacobson have had good years, both have been solid. The Big 12 is a damn tough conference right now, not much disparity, the only team that is considered to be completely down is Colorado and they just beat a damn good Okie State team. If Colorado had a coach who would run out in Boulder they would be damn good, take advantage of that altitude. It will be interesting to see what teams really take over this conference with the changes

Baylor may not be one of the best teams in the country. But, they may as well have been ranked #1 in the polls yesterday. They came in with a 21 game road losing streak. Doesn't every team that has a streak like that snap it in Ames. I'm just relieved that for once we don't have to deal with that ignominy.

It looks like Coach McDermott plays either Marsden or CJ, based on defensive match-ups. He must have thought Marsden matched up better with their big guy.

Overall assessment, any Big 12 win for us is a good win this year. They have some talented offensive players and we did a good job on them. But, like us, they're a young, inexperienced team. To get a bid to the NIT, we need to beat Missouri, Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas Tech at home, or knock someone offon the road (maybe Nebraska). I would say the other three road games are close to unwinnable!!
