My old high school baseball coach used to tell us that "only losers live in the past", but what the heck...it's fun...your all-time favorite ISU victories that you have watched, regardless of whether they were sweet 16 battles, or a friday evening win over IUPUI, and regardless of era...I'll start...

Men's Basketball
1. Our Big Eight Tourney Final victory over Kansas...when Jacque Vaughn's runner came up short at the buzzer, all hell broke loose in my living room...that Kansas team was ABSOLUTELY STACKED with Jacque Vaughn, Jerred Haase, Paul Pierce, Raef Lafrenz, and Scott Pollard, and Jacy Holloway and Dedric came up huge for us.

2. The 2nd round win over Cincinnati...Cincy was a 3seed and we were a six, and they had all-american Danny Fortson and Bob Huggins on the sideline.

3. The ISU-Texas game where Fizer dunked over Mihm...It was a three way tie for first in the Big 12 between us, Texas, and Okie State going into that game...we fell behind early and stormed back...Fizer was unbelievable that game, and after we won that game I had no doubt we would win the big 12.

Football
1. The '92 19-10 win over #7 Nebraska...I remember going to that game expecting to watch Nebraska play "name that score" on us...stickin it to Trev Alberts was awesome.

2. Our 36-31 win at Kinnick where Wallace took over the 2nd half...I roadtripped to that game with a few buddies, and I remember being down 7-24 at the half, feeling sick, and absolutely dreading the three hour drive home...then Seneca took over in one of the best single game performances I've ever seen.

3. The 36-14 win over Nebraska that same season...at that time I had no idea what was going to happen the rest of the season...and we completely dominated the line of scrimmage on offense and defense over the ranked Huskers in the National Game of the Week.

I'll also throw in the women's sweet 16 win over UConn...there aren't too many people in sports I enjoy rooting against as much as Geno...and to top it off they were a #1 seed as usual. Shocking upset, and huge win for Coach Fennelly.

I like the victory in late 2008 when we were able to dump a dead-weight, careerist coach AND get the coach that we really wanted. What a win-win-win.

The victory over Gary Barnett's Buff's at Colorado was pretty cool in the snow. We really had some momentum then.

LaFester scoring 56 to beat Iowa.

Followed by Luther returning the kickoff to beat Nebraska.

Distant 3rd, ISU over Pitt for our first bowl victory.

The '92 home victory over Nebraska. I, too, thought it would be another blow-out handed to us, but the boys played their hearts out and wanted it a whole lot more than the Husker players did. A very good friend of mine was in the stands with us, and when we rushed the field he ended up getting trampled...he was ok so it has been quite a joke ever since...and we converted him from being a Hawkeye to a Cyclone due to the atmosphere of the stadium and the kick-butt tailgating!

MBB: the 2000 NCAA Tourny game against UCLA. I came into this game fully expecting it to be a blow-out. After all, we had never, ever beaten UCLA. Then, we do the blowing out! UCLA quite simply did not deserve to be on the same floor with us, that game. We could easily have won it by 30, if we'd wanted to. That was an amazing game.

And before that game all the national "pundits" were calling UCLA the hottest team in the country and we just ran them right off the floor. Good times!

I "third" the win over Cincinnati to go to the sweet sixteen. It was a wild finish and a great win.

In football I think it has to be the Insight.com bowl win, although in a lot of ways that just felt like icing on the cake after a great season. The win over Nebraska that year was pretty sweet too.
