Vail, CO parking

Some friends and I are taking a trip to Colorado this year and one of the places we are going is Vail. Last year we went to Vail and had to pay for parking, which cost us an arm and a leg (by college student terms). I was wondering if anybody knew if there are any free places to park at Vail?

If you are worried about cost, why vail? You can park for free at keystone, breck, a basin, and copper, and winter park. Much cheaper lodging too (in college student terms).
 
We are staying at a hotel in Silverthorne and our lift tix are good for the resorts, Breck, Keystone, Vail, A-basin, and Beaver Creek. And one of the days we always go to Vail. And we always hate paying for parking.
 
I paid $25 to park at Vail a few days ago.

The free parking spots are very limited and you might spend hours waiting for a spot.

Yeah, thats what we paid last year. Since we had two cars, we paid $50 for the day, which by our standards is a lot. :wink:

I would just get there early and pay to park and hope for some fresh powder in the bowls.

Oh well. And yeah, the only reason we go to Vail is for the bowls. Hopefully we go there on a day with a fresh blanket of pow-pow. I'm soooo excited! :daydreaming::yes:
 
Pack 6 guys into the car and it's only $4, per person. Beer will cost your more then that. If you put 2 in the trunk, it's $3.00.:wink:

I feel your pain, but this goes with the territory somewhat. If you're complaining about the cost, you probably should not be there. Plenty of other good places to ski where you don't have to pay. I had a wonderful day at Loveland pass a few years back. One of the closest slopes to Denver and cheaper to boot...

Well, we have a group of 8 guys going. Would be a pretty tight fit, especially for a 30 minute ride. I understand the cost, but again, we only go there b/c of the sweet bowls and blue sky basin. You really can't find bowls like that (especially with the lift access) anywhere else. (at least the resorts that work with our lift tix)

Go to Beaver and A-Basin, they are better resorts anyway. Just stay away from keystone, that is an ice skating rink all the time.

Never been to A-basin but it looks like a good place, and probably not very busy. Never been to Beaver either, where is that? I actually like Keystone, they have some nice glades in the back. The front part isn't much, though.
 
I recommend A-Basin at the end of the season. I was out there in early May last year and I got to say the ladies skiing/boarding in bikini tops was very nice.

I'm not sure if it was new for last year or not but A-Basin now has backside bowls that are open as well.

Oh yeah, that would be nice to see! I bet they were ni... nevermind.. :wink: And yeah, I think that bowl opened up last year in December.
