Was looking for who reffed the 2000 ISU-MSU game out of curiousity and came across this site:

2000: MSU vs Iowa State - Controversy?

Most fans are typical Big10 fans. A couple liked Nurse, but most comments are definitely Hawkeye style arrogant.

What I find funny is I would bet at least 50% of MSU basketball fans are MU football fans. Think NU-Creighton but worse.

I thought I would post this because with the bowl season fast approaching, I want ISU fans to remember to cheer against all Big10 teams and enjoy their losses. Really enjoy them. Nothing puts happy holidays over the top like the Big10 being shown for the fraud that it is.

Oh, and I found out who the refs are here:

Iowa State Cyclones vs Michigan State Spartans - March 25, 2000 - College Basketball - StatSheet.com

I noticed one of the refs doesn't really ref anymore, one does somewhat, and Curtis Shaw still sucks.

I recorded that game, I watch it once a year or so...I shut it off right after the Shirley foul every time I watch it....I forgot to say that the end of the game never changes...

I can't believe Curtis Shaw has ejected 24 people in his career. That's an average of one every 46 games he does. Seems like alot.

The replays clearly showed the MSU guy sliding in while Shirley was in the air. The guy who called the charge had his view blocked so there was no way he could've seen Shirley take off. So after the discussion, a decent ref would've deferred to the guy who saw the whole thing. Instead, we lose our only respectable center and get pushed around!

I found the refs for the KU-ISU game in 2004, they are at the bottom here:

Iowa State Cyclones vs Kansas Jayhawks - February 21, 2004 - College Basketball - StatSheet.com

Tom O'Neill still gets to work his magic against us.

An interesting write-up on the game here.

ESPN - Iowa State vs. Kansas - Recap - February 21, 2004

It mentions that all the players ran downcourt on the deadball 3. Wrong. I seem to remember it as a 3 vs 1 or something like that with Sullivan as the 1, being as most the ISU players stood around with confused looks on their faces.

Why am I posting such horrible memories? I guess I want the younger ISU fans to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Being an ISU fan takes character, and you are forever going to take shots in the groin. I guess I am hoping the McD gets it turned around, and also that the football coaching search goes well.

Don't worry, as we get closer to the holidays I will post some stuff to feel good about.

That MSU game was the most heartbreaking loss I've experienced as a clone fan...I remember trying to watch MSU play in the final 4 and feeling sick watching them destroy Wisconsin and Florida and knowing what could've been...

That was an injustice for the ages. There must be redemption, right???? Even for Cyclones?

Michigan State was good too, but Iowa State was great if you knew those guys. I mean all time great. I mean, I would put those guys up against last year's Lakers--Seriously--and if you used college referees, Fizer and Nurse would win. What a team. Stevie, Marcus, Kantrail, Mike, Jamaal (grow up please. I love you, but grow up and be a man now), Paul, Martin. Surreal even then when it was happening. Generation Facebook, I wish you knew them.

I can honestly say, even with attending both the Mizzou and KU overtime football losses, that the "blarge" is the worst moment for me in ISU sports, and it isn't even close.

Hey, I'm Generation Facebook, and I very clearly remember that day, that year, and those guys.

Me too. I also clearly remember Dedric Willoughby burying KU in the final Big 8 championship. My little brother (who was a Hawk fan then, has since converted) got sent to his room for cheering for KU. Great day.

While we're at it, how about somebody post up the recap of the Hampton game? Maybe the '99 K-State football game. How about the UCLA ot Sweet 16 game? What a downer thread, lol...

I would consider myself Generation Facebook, and I remember this team quite well. Think about them a lot actually. I watch the the replay of the MSU game usually once or twice a year...only after watching the UCLA game first of course :-)

Another fun game to watch from that year is the Big 12 title game against OU - Jon Sunvold pretty spends the whole game talking about how amazing Jamaal Tinsley is. Jamaal was a freakin stud. Horton was a beast of a guard. Mike Nurse was money. Stevie Johnson was 6-5, 230lbs - but you woulda thought he was 6-10, 280lbs by the way he played. And Marcus...o Marcus...absolute monster which a soft tough. Wow...

It's just crazy to think we were THAT good. I mean we were THAT close to winning a title. THAT CLOSE.

I was at the game. I will never get over it. It hurts just typing this.. (ow, pull the knife out)

How Jacy Holloway gets pushed out of bounds vs UCLA, and there is no call, still baffles me. unbelievable.
