Anyone drive today yet?

Just curious how the roads are around Des Moines this morning. Going to delay the drive into work till later today probably.

I drove from Ames to Nevada about 4:30 this morning and it was not all that bad.

The roads were in good condition, just allow time and drive safely.
My commute: "Waukee side of" West Des Moines to Urbandale

Just got to work, driving from Johnston to NE 14th on 35/80. It wasn't bad, a little packed snow, but traffic was moving at about 45 mph and no one was being too stupid. Except that idiot who was only going 25 in the far left lane. Surface streets were actually worse than the freeway, with a little deeper snow.

I drove at about 5:00 AM to go work out and then to work where I just arrived and it really isn't that bad. Getting out of my driveway was the hardest part.

Just got downtown from Clive. Nothing to worry about. Slower than normal, but I didn't see anyone having any trouble.

Spouse just got home from Ankeny! He said it wasn't that bad.

From downtown (MLK) to 63rd the roads where fine, just give a little extra time.

The side roads in WDM were horrible...not plowed at all. But the main roads (Grand, EP, Mills Civic, etc.) were ok, same as they usually are after a snow. A little slower commute but not much.

Thinking I'll probably go in around 11. I'd go now but problem is my car is still in the shop from my winter accident over 2 weeks ago and the fiance doesn't want our only car at the moment out of commision too so my hands are tied since its not my car. Think I might be getting mine back this weekend though. :smile:

65/69 looks pretty crusty from Indianola to the south side, but I only travelled a short way on it.

Ankeny to DesMoines took me about 30 minutes. The roads are not too bad.

Took 35 and 235 from Ankeny to WDM; about 45 most of the way. Roads weren't too bad; some spots on 235 were worse than others.

Urbandale to Ankeny not too bad. Snow covered roads (as to be expected) allow some extra time and take it easy but overall, not too bad.

Wasn't bad at all coming from Ankeny to the south side of Des Moines. Just take your time and you'll be fine.

Ames roads are fine, just snow covered. We must have missed most of the ice/freezing rain. A lot of snow to snow blow though.

Roads are covered in a layer of ice from Ankeny to Story City, but not bad at all.

Unless you get a half-dozen semis passing you in a hurry, it's not very frightening. If you do, you get a little older a lot quicker.
