Jon Miller has a new write up on realignment...surprising and worth the read.

Iowa States attendance track record is going to be very valuable in all of this. Don't listen to the tavern hoks when they say that attendance doesn't matter and that BTN already has the Iowa footprint. Eyeballs and subscriptions matter and not every game is a home game. When the Cyclones play on the road you can bet your a$$ we are all tuning in and watching via multiple platforms. It absolutely matters and those eyeballs turn into subscriptions. If the B1G would strategically put Iowa State and Iowa in different time slots you are absolutely increasing viewership and that is huge.
They are also going to look at the school's near ISU that have attendance issues. MN, NW, and IL will all get an attendance bump from ISU joining the league. It sounds like kNu may need help soon too. In Minnesota alone, attendance will go up by several thousand for any game with ISU.

So if this happens.........do we go from being mad at UT and OU to sending them a thank you card? It could be a situation where we are dumped at a bar by a semi attractive beatch of a woman, but get sympathy from the smoking hot model who has decided to take a guy home that night.

Absolutely not. They wrecked a good conference and we no longer get to do March in KC. Even if we end up in a far better situation and get to marry that smoking hot model, **** them and the horse they rode in on. My hatred for those ******* and everything they represent will be infinite. We were finally getting into a position where we could compete and beat them on a regular basis. They can all eat a bag of *****.

That looks like the Top Gun volleyball scene of album covers.
I'll see your album cover and raise you... hmmm, maybe that's not the best way to phrase that...

I always thought Jon Miller has the Steve Alford kind of hair style. The style that was popular in the early 80's.

I agree with you. The Gophers stadium is never full unless Wisc or Hoks are in town. That stadium only holds 50k and they still don't come close to filling it. ISU would have ZERO problem filling it up.

I'm somewhat curious with the number of atheltic programs we offer, if that could be potentially an issue. If I'm counting correctly, we offer 16 different programs between men and women. The school with the lowest number in the Big 10 is Northwestern with 18. Would they ask that we add programs? And if so, would we be receptive to the idea? It's hard to imagine the Big 10 bringing in a school that will instantly become the school with the least amount of programs offered. Just a thought I'd had for a week or so now.

We absolutely would be receptive. Our problem has always been resources and the need to keep feeding the revenue generator. (football) The pot of money that would come with joining the conference would provide those resources.

Ok here is what I"m not getting...ACC contract is horrid thru 2036.. Everyone says if they can add a team they get to redo the horrible contract. If that is the case then why haven't they added WV like yesterday?

I'd think if there is a clause in the GOR that allows the ACC to change its current deal by adding teams that they would be adding teams then..

WVU is not their first choice. They were hoping to get to 16 with ND + Tx. That was ideal option. If tx did not come when nd was ready to join, UConn or WVU would have been options with ND.

the problem is that nd is not planning to join near term and the b10, sec, & pac are all getting new deals that will leave the ACC in the dust (the early years of the ACC deal were competitive but behind the B12, and ahead of the PAC on a per team basis, but that will change very soon). Not to mention these new deals will come up for renewal again before the ACC can renegotiate in 2036.

so, point is, they were planning on adding ND…. That's not happening any time soon. Now they need to act because their deal is about to be left behind. That is why it’s happening now but didn’t before. Just a bad deal signed by the prior commissioner.

If ISU has potential to add $20M+ of revenue annually, it would seem adding 2 sports would be pretty easy.

A men's sport like soccer would be easy to add ot even swimming since the facilities already exist. From a nostalgia perspective- baseball would be nice.

From a women's side maybe we see field hockey or rowing.

They aren’t going to say, “you need to have x sport added day 1”.

I’m not even talking about Deace’s take on politics. I’m talking about a guy that flat out admitted to Iowa State fans that he’s a Wolverine pretending to be a Cyclone fan because he was being paid to be one. Once that happened, I couldn’t care less about his really bad takes on ISU athletics.

If I recall history correctly at the time Deace became a Cyclone no one was talking Cyclones. He was one of the first and only to attend ISU media days. He also called out Iowa b.s. snobbery when no one else would. Yeah, he was a fake Cyclone but he helped Cyclone athletics by giving them a platform. Hard to hate him for that.

He could laugh at their attitude since he was a Michigan fan.

I assumed it was like Mercedes car classes. C would be the lower class, S is top of the line.

Thought the C class was the coupe. Fun to drive, exciting to look at, not real practical.

S class is the sedan. Bigger and less sporty, but more comfortable, and a lot easier to get in and out of.

From the Alliance press conference:

“We want and need the Big 12 to do well,” Phillips said. “The Big 12 matters in college athletics. The Big 12 matters in Power 5 athletics. I can tell you we’ll be watching closely what occurs here.”

If we take that at face value, their preference would be to see the Big XII reconstitute itself and remain viable. And if that's the case, they're not going to press the Destruct button by taking the two best schools. I think they'll provide some limited help, but we're probably on our own. Of course that could all change tomorrow.
